..What can't X do...
Be combined with two other X servers, and become XXX and entertain me for hours.....
Oh, you ment seriously... 4.3 seems to fix the command complaints...
(Switching resolutions, if I'm not mistaken...)
Since we are talking about aple and open source, dont forget about this. The KHTML based browser, Apple worked on alot of bugfixes and everything seems happy about the attention that KHTML is getting because of this...
First you patent all the ways you can use it.. then the product... one thing at a time.. one thing at a time.... That way you can sue for multiple patent infringments.
but what happens when Windows is based on.NET and "must" include it to work properly? I think microsoft would just go the IE route.. In other words, make it a 'core' part of their new OS and claim it can't be removed..... I can hear it now- 'longhorn an't done till java won't run...'
I'll play along...
Let's say I delete IE... now I have no web browser, how am I going to downlad Mozilla?
Windows doesn't come with a FTP client, so in most cases, people might not have one.....
I thought the whole idea was to get people to try Solaris, and then if they like it to get them to 'upgrade' to Sun Hardware? (You know, the first hit is free...) Or is Sun going to actually support x86? I think it would be wish for Sun to get behind Hammer... Or I think it might just loss out to the lower cost x86-64 based hardware suppliers....
Yea, remove the aol cover, and print out a new one for, say the new Red Hat 8.0. I downloaded it, and make a custom case using the junk^H^H^H 'promotional mail' AOL sends me..
There's no checking of basic constraints. Thus an attacker can obtain a legitimate SSL cert for his domain and use it to sign a dummy cert for a second site...More specifically, a cert which should not be used to sign others simply isn't checked. It's entirely possible to specify that a given cert is not valid to sign others
Sometimes it helps to read the article before asking questions....
No, if (shock) you had read the article, you would have seen that Mozilla (.94) is working fine and does not suffer from this problem. It has yet (IIRC) to be tested on newer versions, but they should still be fine...
from the secure-your-network-or-someone-else-will dept.
Are you trying to say I am the only one who has been hacking in to windows systems, applying patches, and beefing up security? I mean, the ends justify the means, right? Just don't be surprised if you leave your system on, leave the room, and come back to discover gentoo running on it....
I can't speak for windows, but using gentoo and building everything from source, starting from stage1, It took about ~6 hours. That includes basic system compile, x, kde, and mozilla.
All this was done on a Athlon 1.1Ghz, with 40Gb of ram.
IMHO, 50 Gigs of HD? That is alot of space.
People who are in businees to make money are trying to make money?
Now I could be wrong, but I always thought the product mass-media was selling was a captive audience to advertisers. Content is the bait used to get that product. Stop paying attention, and the product is gone. So, in theory, the content will change to get the product to return. Or in other words, stop watching/reading this shit, complain about it to the source and maybe if enough people do this, then the content they are giving away will change.
Guess I won't be a professional slashdotter.
Yes... you made a mistake, and didn't use the preview button.. you can now become a slashdot editor...
Congrats...
yet somehow I was able to compile and run apache 1.3.27 and 2.0.44 on a RedHat 8.0 system..... /me yawns..
just more fud from the Anonymous Coward.. man.. that bastard posts alot..
For some reason the mention of goatse.cx didn't bother me.. but the giant pic of Janet Reno made me cringe.. It's just wrong...
Yea Microsoft would never base their products on something that apple made.. oh.. wait a minute....

Actually there is a browser that meats most of those requirements here. I think it includes XUL, but it close and small..
First you patent all the ways you can use it.. then the product... one thing at a time.. one thing at a time.... That way you can sue for multiple patent infringments.

Outlaw cash transactions..... Credit Card/Debit from now on only.. or else the terrrorist have won (tm).
(just a joke...)
Since we are trolling... M$ bugs = 2,090,000. Microsoft bugs
Actually something similar would be:
... never mind.. it's only karma...)
Microsoft would give you a free Game, all you had to do was buy the xbox to play it on.
(See they were getting Office, but had to pay for windows, so

I leave it as an exercise to the reader as to what percentage of Slashdot readership would be left.
...CowboyNeal?
Yea, but never the interesting articles

Just MHO
Unless you're a hardcore gamer, what would you need an 8GHz system with 2gb ram and 1tb hard drive for anyway?
Ever heard of Doom III? Or maybe, "the next big thing" Microsoft Longhorn? Or interactive pr0n?
