The one thing that will keep this from ever getting off the ground are the small ISP's. You know, the ones that have 3-5 tech's who are already swamped with ''Real work." These filters and logging and throttling that the Phonographic (Nice Name, really current) what to implement would cost a good chunk of cash, which these ISP would rather spend on increasing there coverage area.
I think David Foley is going to click on a few ads for a free iPod, maybe some hit the monkey, and definitely will be signing up at some free porn porn sites. Oh yeah, he will also subscribe to the MAME mailing lists.
Apple is trying to pass off old parts as new, starting warranties from the time they ship to the reseller rather then when the customer buys it, not reimbursing the reseller for parts under warranties, and trying to direct reseller customers to their own Apple stores.
There are two suits, one brought on behalf of customers, the other on the behalf of the resellers. Although the two cases are related since the consumers case is based around products bought from resellers.
These are big issues, especially for all the apple zealots out there who think apple is a "kinder gentler company."
Same buisness model as netflix, except that most games you can buy dirt cheep. I got Beyond Good & Evil for $13, the box an manual were in mint condition too. Better then buying used games online, since I can see the condition of the media before I buy.
Since the guardian article only named groups that conducted the survey, its hard to tell what was sampled. My guess it was just the US and the EU, since if they had included anime in the US data, we would have ranked number one.
Looking at the tracker for a popular (and recently licensed, ninja) anime, yesterday showed over 30,000 unique downloads. I have no clue what region these people are in, but thats a lot of downloads, and the torrent was just released. Give it a day, and it will pass enterprise; a week, 24; and a month it will probably set its own record.
If you look at the tracker the torrent was on, there were over 15000 downloads. This was in early 2004 when I grabbed it. The tracker is now offline (imagine that!).
There were more skins then just nudes, Street fighter, MGS, and some original ones too. Plus, to use the skins, you need a mod-chip, and the skins were loaded on the HD.
You are right, this is an exercise, but Chi has some good IP lawyers, so hopefully these guys can get one.
Hard to argue that you're costing a company sales when they arent providing that product
Precisely. Combine this with the fact that most anime that is released in japan, is done so with out any consideration to a NA audience. It has only been recently that NA companies have provided funds to get an anime made (Dead Leaves & Big O 2nd).
I guess Media Factory is trying to be proactive, stopping fansubers, while trying to draw attention from NA distro companys. Its no big deal really since, Media Factorys animes are so-so.
Limiting a child's exposure does ensure that they will become good people. A perfect example of this was a few people I knew in high school, who would not drink because of fear of their parents finding out. When they graduated, and went to a university, the lack of parental supervision gave way to the partying that they avoided in high school. Low a behold they ended up doing poorly in higher education, one even lost an academic scollorship.
The point is, had these people partied in high school, they would have learned to control these desires. The same is true for just about anything. Violence, sex, drug usage, and most importunely the emotions that cause these urges and come from images of these acts.
Protecting children is a job of the parent, not the state. But preventing exposure to violent, sexual content and mature games is a band-aid on a bullet wound. It does not help "raise upstanding citizens" it creates unbalanced ones.
When I got AT&T set up at my apartment, I asked the tech if this would allow me to also get TV stations. He said no. He took me to the box that splits the signal to all the units in my building and showed me that there was a jumper-like attachment on my line. All I had to do was pull that jumper and I would be able to get most of the stations.
Now this guy was contracted by AT&T and not an actual employee of it.
Actually I was thinking that they used a throbber, ala the PS2 Dual-Shock controller. That would give a whole new life to viagra Spam.
But why rely on hardware, when you can make a system constantly "Live-aware." Mod-chip installed, ET phone home.
Vibrator. Thats so last gen.

Oh, come on, how could you forget PL/1
The language that spawned C!
Did I miss anything?

Are these the same people who worked OT and never got paid?

I'd tell him that the life support system was running windows.
Both!
No need to put the chip in my body, I have one in my cell phone.
