    Also think reuse of the models (not intended as a pun). so after the characters are created you have unlimited use to create scenes. your rate of production would be faster.

    Thats not cheating. its a useful feature of the .net Framework. also java has the same thing JNI. except i see it used less.

    If its Herb Sutter you are talking about, he's been with microsoft for awhile now. He's posted a few articles on msdn about C++ on things like conformance and feature improvements to VS.net

    this linker shown above does nothing more than merge all the classes used by the application into one big assembly. it does not turn the code into native assembly or link into the assembly and mini hosting environment which is what joel is talking about. YOU STILL NEED .NET

    they did indirectly through some of the msdn magazine articles as part of tutorials on the emit api and the overview of the VS.NET 2003

    i thought i saw a cmd called VRFY which is supposed to check if the supplied email is a valid.
    I know it exists on SMTP on windows servers not sure about non-windows smtp servers.

    for point #3 java has jar files which is a simpler version of an assembly. so bundling itself is not the real attraction.
    What is really cool about assemblies is that you can dynamically generate them using classes exposed in the core framework.
    i just wrote a sophisticated Database layer making my database object oriented. it took me 2 weeks and works perfectly.

    ya in nyc Clear Channel is running power 105 (a rap station) at a loss to compete against hot 97. When they first started up they actually played commercial free for something like a week. They are actually doing a smart thing and staying away from new music and playing a lot of music from 2-5 years back. Smart bc a lot of the new stuff is crap.
