    Wtf has the opinion of the paper 70 years ago go to do with it now when most if not all of the people who worked on it then are probably dead?

    Reading the paper today, it seems like both the writers and readers from the 30s are still alive. In fact most of them probably fought in the war. For the Nazis.

    That CIA fact book's a sack of shit. How do you test the literacy of a population where most people don't go to school and live in areas where even the police are scared to go?

    Perhaps they walk into a favella in Rio and ask the local crack dealer if he wants to do a literacy test.

    I have been to Brazil and Argentina and it is the same as it is here in America, several cities bursting with industrial, urban life

    So which American cities in particular have half the population living in favelas that make trailer parks look like Beverly Hills in comparison? Many Brazilians don't have electricity at all, they live in houses that are literally six foot across and made out of cardboard.

    And considering the endemic corruption in Brazil, this scheme is likely to do no more than line the pockets of the local politicans as they sell the laptops on to the wealthy half of the country.

    It doesn't matter if you're a Linux user if you're buying Windows games. All the develop sees is people buying Windows games. I don't know why you're having so much trouble understand this, it's an incredibly simple concept. I'll spell it out for you:

    THEY DON'T NEED TO MAKE LINUX GAMES IF LINUX USERS CAN RUN WINDOWS GAMES.

    In my case, thanks to Cedega, there's now one more almost-purely-linux gamer and one less Windows gamer. Now that I game under linux instead of in Windows, companies do have more incentive to make linux ports of their games.

    Incorrect. If Linux users can now run games written for Windows, then there is ZERO incentive to make Linux ports at all. Why make a Linux port when the Linux users can use the Windows version?

    If you mistrust your children to these kinds of extents, then you have failed as a parent and nothing can fix this.

    Parents who don't control what their kids eat have failed as parents. Teaching kids to eat properly is one of the most important things a parent can do, letting them eat crap is one of the worst forms of neglect.

    Kids who have their driver's licenses and are nearly the age of majority, yet they can't pick their own lunches?

    I agree, schoolkids shouldn't be allowed driving licences. Not until they're around 20/21.

    How does a child end up stunted by having to eat vegetables rather than cheeseburgers for lunch? Seems like the opposite would be more true, that allowing them to eat crap every day is more likely to stunt their growth.

    All this 'let children make mistakes' is crap. Let them grow up on junk food and they'll end up eating junk food into adulthood, and they'll feed their own children on junk food. Let them grow up on healthy food and they'll eat healthy food into their adulthood, and feed their own kids healthy food.

    The fact that you can call a film magnificent, great and absorbing, and still say you wouldn't mind if you missed it, suggests the problem isn't with sequels, it's your own hangups.
