For those of you who have not seen Reloaded or Revolutions.. or both.. please go into the movie knowing that is a continuation of the story, NOT a god damn sequel.
sequel (plural sequels), noun
1. continuation of a story: a movie, novel, or play that continues a story begun in a previous movie, novel, or play
They are sequels. They are not the same movie, just like two towers wasn't the same movie as fellowship. I really liked them both, but I know people who didn't like the second as much. That's a perfectly valid opinion.
You could claim that Matrix/Reloaded/Revolutions were equally good (I haven't found anyone who would), but to claim they HAVE to be because they share a common world is idiotic.
Can't tell if you're trolling or ignorant, but generics are coming in Java 1.5, and there's been an example implementation available from sun for about a year.
i.e. your IMs are encrypted with a strong algorithm and cannot easily be read by people with NICs in promiscuous mode on your network hardware.
Actually, the IM part of the protocol has changed very little (at all?). What's changed is the login procedure. Previously, the server would send you a token, you would append your password and send them the MD5 hash. Now, the messenger server gives you some tokens, and you log onto passport, passing these on to the server. The passport logon uses HTTP with SSL, so your password is encrypted. The login process gives you the single-sign-in cookies (which unofficial clients ignore) and an authentication string to send back to the messenger server.
It seemed to me that the login process was slower with MSN 6, I guess this is why - it requires about four HTTPS requests. (They optimised the contact list download protocol to reduce this slowdown).
Um, touchpad has always worked, to my knowledge, in 2.6 - starting from test2 or 3 (i forget) it didn't work using the generic PS/2 driver and many people thought it was broken, but I think it always worked in some form...
It wouldn't prove anything, but it might stop people opening it. Maybe spam filtering software could, for a given list of addresses, accept anything unconditionally if properly signed, and drop anything unconditionally if it wasn't?
It's odd that they claim a client can be a security issue. If a rogue client has more or less access to a server and can do things to the server it should not be doing, the problem is the weak security of the SERVER.
Yup, and now they're changing the required protocol at the server end. I'm sure this is partly (entirely?) just to push their client, but your argument makes no sense - if clients had too many permissions under the old protocol, upgrading to a new minimum protocol is what you'd do. (Depending on the nature of the problem, if the official client didn't use it much, you could just return an error).
once some dumb criminal discovers he can use it to buy a gun (insert 1,000 $, get the card with amount on it, give to gun seller then go bang-bang) and then uses that gun to say... kill a high political figure (no insinuations there!!!) or popular person etc. BAM! instant ban or regulation.
But of the money-transfer device, obviously, not guns.
People won't buy CDs unless there's something that you don't get with a copy, or they think copying is wrong. CDs have liner notes with lyrics etc. If you get rid of the lyric sites, then this could be something you can't have with a copy. Plus, lyric sites are easy to google:)
It was only 12 + 10 when I did it, you don't have to go through sydney, we went to LA and then Heathrow.
What's wrong with Print Preview?
Or thank god(?) most kids think, not like you?
Probably nothing. But there's always burn and rip.

And if the server IS totally secure, then checking the client for modifications is pointless :-P
What do you think it's for?
and anti-gun sites
Apparently the story extends past the headline now.
What? The founding fathers were people with opinions that someone might choose to disagree with? Outrageous!
Am I the only one who has noticed that refresh rates have a large impact on eye strain? Almost certainly.

Can someone tell me what this says? I got it today in place of the Google (New Zealand) logo.
-1, Flamebait.
I hear Apple's working on something...
True. However it's likely, but unproven, that pi is a normal number.

If ever there was a case for linking to hello.jpg...

I'm sorry, you lose. You just quoted spider-man in a debate about foreign policy.
So you'll pay $20 or whatever for a sound card, and would prefer them *not* to put in a 20 cent onboard chip?
At least you're supporting the local economy.
Just add a slash onto the end of the URL.

Ethernet is dirt-cheap and everywhere, gigabit is backwards compatible. Game over.
