This looks like a really cool idea for standardization. It has everything that bluetooth has and more. The only thing missing is a lot of financial backing. Imagine using the same game controller for your Dreamcast, Xbox, Nintendo, and PC. Imagine it being cost effective because the controllers are produced by many different vendors using inexpensive chipsets. And it's wireless! This is absolutely amazing. I hate how I can buy a logitech keyboard but can't use it with an Intel wireless station. Let's see a standard.

One question, I do have is: What's to stop you from accessing your friends system across the street? I know this is short range but the controller will still have to "log in" to the base station. It has been like I have never even tried; I received no mail whatsoever. When I called their 800 number, I was put on hold for an extended time and punted around to different numbers. Ultimately, I was told that high schools cannot register .edu domains when I know this to be false. I know of many schools much like my own which have this type of domain. They include but are not limited to stuy.edu, bxscience.edu, bhs.edu, mbhs.edu, tjhsst.edu, bths.edu, and damien.edu. http://www.wednet.edu/ and lane.edu aren't even real schools. It is completely unfair that elite schools like Stuyvesant and Bronx High School of Science get to be at the forefront of this technology revolution. I sent an email to them and never actually got a response either. Maybe this new initiative will allow other schools to get domains.

I have several friends who are class officers and asked them what was happening. They had no idea. I thought this was quite odd. A man there proceded to tell us how important it was to send cards to friends and family that announced our graduation. He also told us how we could buy mugs with our school's logo on it. He said that he went to over 100 schools per year (and that was just him!) I absolutely could not believe it. I missed Chemistry so that I could hear a speech about buying greeting cards and mugs!

Now, everyday on announcements we hear how we should buy these things. There are posters advertising this company all over the place. The school even dedicated an entire display case to house demos of this company's wares.

There is obviously something wrong that is happening to our public schools. Commercialism has gone too far. We can even buy Domino's pizza in the cafeteria. I believe that it should either be all or nothing. If one company can be invited to sell greeting cards, all of them should.

I really love my TI-89 calculator and, as I am a true nerd, would like to buy a Palm device. I have looked everywhere and cannot seem to find any sort of advanced math software for palm devices. This seems like an untapped market. Is it possible that you might consider porting the TI-89 OS or Derive to Palm OS? I would much rather have one device than both a calculator and handheld palmtop.

Anyway, I'm sticking with my Ti-89 and still haven't gotten a PDA because I really see it as an expensive toy. If i could use it to do math, it would be a real incentive to buy one. Since somebody recently released a Ti-85 emulator for Psion, a palm version is hopefully coming.
