  1. Too many versions of Windows 10 on Microsoft's 'Meltdown' Patch For Windows 10 Contains a Fatal Flaw (bleepingcomputer.com) · · Score: 2

And not enough time to test them properly. Microsoft should just support one version of Windows 10, getting rid of superfluous versions like 10S and take the LTSB version and just support that without the six monthly "Windows as a service" updates.

This is why enterprises and power users are staying with LTSB, Windows 7 and even XP. We don't want sudden updates breaking our stuff. Microsoft needs to learn to slow down and do proper tetsing instead of this Windows as a service fad.

  7. Update fragmentation. on Windows 10 April 2018 Update is Coming On April 30 (venturebeat.com) · · Score: 1

Looking at Microsoft’s support cycle is a mess. It could do with a lot of simplifying. Make the next update Windows 10.1 and make it the only supported upgrade getting everyone on the same page. Release new point versions every two years (LTSB versions) and feature updates (service packs?) every six months following Ubuntu’s model. So 2015 would be Windows 10.0, 2018 10.1, 2020 10.2 and so on.

Other than minor security updates and sneaking in telemetry Windows 7 and 8.1 are abandoned by Microsoft. Microsoft will make more of its software Windows 10 only way before 2020/3 and try to get everyone in the Microsoft Store Ecosystem.
