  1. Working for Uber = You are a Full Time Employee? on Limo Firm To Uber: You Misclassify Your Drivers As Contractors, Which Is Unfair (arstechnica.com) · · Score: 1

I've posted about this before, but I've always wondered when we see governments, employers, etc saying that Uber's employees need to have full benefits and be treated as employees..... But are they saying if you drive at all? Or is this *IF* you drive 32+ hours a week? I've known a few people that drove for Uber and they would only do 6-12 hours a week or so. I know others do a lot more, but it still seems odd to me. Are these complaints specifically for Uber drivers who work full time hours, or literally anyone who has ever driven for Uber?

I mean I guess it's not honest to say it's a "moral requirement".... But at least he named the actual reason - profit. Perhaps he should have made a lie that sounded more "feel good" (even though we'd still know it was BS. Instead of : "More requirement to make money," he should reword it as "Moral requirement to pay those involved in the research, production, and distribution costs." We'd know it was BS.... But at least it'd be an attempt at PR that might fool a few people?

We'd lose this hilarious quote though, so he probably made the better choice.

People won't keep themselves busy every day. They'll lounge around, play the lottery, watch professional sports, get drunk and high, and play World of Warcraft.

This just reminds me of several years ago. I went to the bar my friends and coworkers used to hang at every Friday. I was talking to a guy there who was telling me how he just lost his job due to crappy stuff with the management and some girl at the company. I said something to him about that situation sucking. His reply was: "No way man, it's awesome. I get $600 every unemployment check to just watch Netflix and smoke weed all day!"

Then of course 2-3 years later my company closes the Charlotte office and I'm looking for work. I'm good on money for the time so I take my time to only apply to jobs and companies I'm interested in. I then find out that my state lowered the amount of time you could get unemployment to only 12 weeks. Suddenly the job hunt was a bit more urgent.

Except in many of these cases, the whining is part of the work - "please donate more to my patreon because I'm not happy" etc.

It seems harder to write smaller on the tablet... but if I write larger it just ends up being a small number of big words on the screen with me constantly scrolling more.

Granted I understand this is more of a user (and small tablet size) issue. But that's my 2 cents on "Anywhere you would use a pad of paper you should be able to use a tablet instead." I wish I could.

This seems more like an ad trying to encourage people to buy a smart speaker "before it becomes cool!"

Seems to me that, if they still have a short position, getting an SEC investigation going and/or announcing and filing a suit for billions would be just the sort of manipulation that they are claiming Musk was up to. Hold a short, file a suit, talk it up.
