I remember when I was using some mathematical language a lot of years ago (it was called Basic1000D, for the Atari ST).
One could change the base used by typing something like "BASE 16" for example to switch to hexadecimal. Example: (probably not the correct syntax, but the idea is the same)
> 9 + 9 ? 18 > BASE 16 > 9 + 9 ? 12
And I used to try to go back to my initial base by typing:
> BASE 10 > 9 + 9 ? 12
And wondering why this stupid program would not switch back to what I told it ! The correct way to do what I wanted and which would work from any base was
> BASE TEN > 9 + 9 ? 18
And I think I kept this method to differenciate the actual number (which I write in letters) from its volatile numerical representation (which I write in cyphers.
I really find it easier to name The Answer "Forty-Two" (or even "Quarante-Deux" in my mother tongue) rather than "the number which representation in the base corresponding to the number of fingers human beings generally have on all their hands (of course ! if I cannot use "forty-two", I cannot use "ten" either) is a four followed by a two".
I never clicked either because I just never feel lucky.
But actually now I use this feature indirectly when I write some word directly in Firefox url line. Generally a site name for which I do not remember whether it is.com or.org
No, you are probably rather thinking of Francois Perusse here and his '2 minutes du peuple". I cannot remember if he did something about Star Wars, but I am positive about exhilarating X-Files parodies.

The same goes for Pi, hopefully.
I understand that The Answer is "Forty-Two", not 42. And if you multiply six by nine, you always get fifty-four, whichever base is used.

I prefer to use the syntax instead of .
The backquotes appear correctly in the preview:Anyway I would suggest using something simpler in this case: /bin/ls doest not interpret the wildcard, the shell does.
Wouldn't it be "cursor left cursor left backspace backspace cursor right spacebar e n d l" ?
The knot ?
- So, how does this book end ?
- Depends which end are you talking about...
So, weekends consist of Friday and Saturday ?
Wikipedia says: "According to the ISO 8601 norm the week begins on a Monday."
IMDB gives the release dates for the movie in several countries. Perhaps the submitter is from South Korea ?
In France, the movie will be released very soon (January 12th), and there even was a special preview in Paris with Miyazaki a few weeks ago.
I like the way this site manages the link to "previous report". For example it tried to get me to the prediction for yesterday, November 0th
MOD PARENT UP (n/t)
Okay, I just found that it was impossible, because of this rule:
A valid entry will consist of a single text file containing between 16 and 256 bytes
What happens if I submit the empty file as pov source file and get 0 vote ? ;)
His name is Francis Lax.
You can hear his voice on a page dedicated to people who made voices for Harrison Ford on this page (in French)
Had I been told it was crappy, I would not have spent so much time on it !
It makes it harder to talk about "what you did yesterday evening" during coffee break the next day at work
Are you comparing US dollar vs Canadian dollar ?
I don't post on /., I am simply reading.
Oh, wait!...
You mean they are merry, don't you ?

(due to my nickname here, I feel I have to reply here ;) )
You forgot Batman !
Otherwise the canadian French-speaking humorist Anthony Kavanagh also did a Star Wars parody in one of his shows.
"Le monde de Monsieur Fred est une emission culturelle."
In France it happens that French cosmonauts (when taking part to a Russian mission) or astronauts (with NASA) are simply called "spationauts".
(I think the word is for all Europeans, but I only know its use in French).
oh, no, I broke html !
