It's much easier to scratch the outside of a CD/DVD than the inside. This is not ingenius, IMHO.
Also, is your math right? sure, the outside of the disc is SPINNING faster, but does that necessarily mean it reads faster? (remember, the data is read in a spiral).
Hmm.. I distinctly remember running OS-9 on the CoCo, but you're right, come to think of it, the ROM pack contained the controller, and the OS was probably on the floppy.. needed it to run certain games, IIRC (Cave Walker.. ? (-: )
My ISP would give you ONE ip, and you'd have to NAT the rest. If I was setting up WiFi, acting as an ISP, I'd do the same (or maybe 2-3 IPs), unless you want to pay me for more IPs. (unless, of course, I'm already NATing the whole thing.. 1 layer of NAT is bad enough -- multi layers.. may the nastiness begin!)
Anyone with more than 2-3 computers probably has the know-how to set up their own LAN with NAT/proxy.
When your grandmother can successfully get a PC and load RedHat on it unassisted, and then actually troubleshoot it if something goes wrong (can she understand cronjobs? fsck?), THEN Linux will have risen to the top.
BS.
Most users wouldn't have a clue how to install Windows, let alone use Scheduled Tasks, or scandisk/defrag.
To quote one of the speakers: "DOS isn't dead. It was just sleeping."
And he proceded to show us the wonders of a new language called batch (seriously. He told the 400 people there that for loops in batch were just invented and will be in.NET server).
Oh, and.NET server will come with a clip executable, so you'll be able to use: C:\> dir | clip and then paste the results into notepad.
Oh, my personal favourite, he had to type 'hh some_file.chm' from the command line to "compile" the help file before he could use it, because the 'unix team' hadn't written an interface to it yet (hh is a new command, he said). Heh.. hh is the help file launcher. You can double click on chm files. hh is a wrapper, like start.
Seriously. It's not like they're going to hold back on something like this because "it's unethical"

It's true. My father, a mechanic, once left a (rather large) screwdriver in the track of a bulldozer. He only noticed it was there after the machine had trampled it. The handle was all broken, and the shaft was quite bent.
Took it to the local Sears, and they didn't even ask what happened to it, but replaced it with a brand new, equivalent, screwdriver.
As a result, he buys most of his tools there, now.
I have windows sounds turned off. I never hear the IE Click. It's one of the first things I do on a clean windows install.
The speed difference is REAL. I've seen it. Seriously, line two equally* capable machines up next to each other, one x86 based, the other PowerPC (g3, g4 whatever, so long as it's close the the capability of the x86 machine) and render a complex page side by side. Even a large, expanded/. thread would probably show it.
Like I posted in that discussion, try loading a complex table on IE Mac, then do the same on PC. It's noticibly slower on the Mac. (OS9.2 I haven't tested (much) on X)

Not a perfect implementation, but good enough for me.

Your post was good up to that point.

I agree.
If [insert big-5 label here] made a CD that fell apart or melted in the drive, it wouldn't be apple's fault. This is no different.

Sorry boys and girls, you have to buy the CD if you want to see it
or you could just look at the top of the linked story -- Picture Gallery (3)

Just relaying my opinion. that IS what the poster was looking for, after all.
Plus, they're not that expensive. You can pick them up at Staples / Business Depot in bulk.

but have you tried labels?
I have one of these and the results are decent, even with my cheapish inkjet printer.
I've had stomps printed with a colour laser (at 300dpi) with great success. There's also a clear/glossy version that works very well, and looks great.
I was at a Microsoft .NET conference on Tuesday.

Sorry.. WAY offtopic.
No Score +1 for me.

They probably DO pay for it, but they probably don't keep immaculate records (you know, those ugly little "certificates" that come with Windows?).

The mac zealots (not unlike linux zealots) get all defensive about such issues, as you can see.
