"It's only murder when you kill a human."
Well then, abortion is not murder if it's done within the first few weeks. Glad we sorted that one out.
"But it's OK with you for someone to decide if someone else is born or not."
That "someone" is a lump of cells, not a person, hence my description of murdering millions of microbes.
"No. I have raised her child's right to life above her right to choose."
It is not a child if it's just a lump of cells without human caracteristics.
"You can't murder a pig. I don't have a problem with a "morning after" pill. If you prevent the pregnancy from occuring, then we are talking about a single cell. My problem is with the fact that an abortion can be obtained up until the moment of birth. You can abort a child after it is capable of living on its own."
I agree with you on this. Many countries don't allow abortions after the 12th week, unless the mother's life is in danger, and this is OK. I don't really care where the exact limit is, since you should make up your mind early anyway. If someone waits until just before birth and then want an abortion, then something is seriously wrong with that person.
"So all of those men who pressure women to have abortions are "pro-woman"?"
Pressuring someone to have an abortion is as stupid as pressuring someone not to remove an unwanted lump of cells. Except if it's the partner, in which case he should be let in on the decision. But the final word is the woman's.
"The last few email viruses infact did affect all windows mail clients(except outlook 2002) since it was just an executable attachment that contained its own smtp server and searched drive for email addresses. Outlook 2002 by default blocks executable attachments."
The last few viruses did not affect all Windows mail clients at all, since most of them don't execute attachments by default, and therefore the virus cannot infect the system.
In order for a virus to infect your system, you have to run the virus code. Just receiving a virus through mail will not get you infected when using most e-mail clients.
Conclusion: You are talking complete nonsense.
I hope the moderators who modded you up get a good and hard beating in meta moderation, because they obviously waste mod points on misinformation!
The very first site in the list does take you to a walkthrough, so why complain about entries further down on the list (that may well be relevant for someone else)?
At least try to think before posting pointless "me too" messages for karma....

Fine. Murder is perfectly OK in some cases. Every time I boil water, I murder thousands or millions of microbes. Animals are murdered to become meat on our plates. We even murder trees to create paper, etc.
What worries me is when you want to make choices for someone else. You want to decide that a woman is not allowed to have an abortion because you have raised one cell above other cells for some reason. If it's all right to murder a pig to eat it, then why can't you murder a single cell or a small lump of cells inside a pregnant woman?
I take it you are a man. Then it's easy to pass judgement when you will never carry a child yourself, isn't it? As Jherico said, this might be a case for calling you "anti-woman". Whether you are or not, I won't guess too much either way, but when a man takes such a stand knowing very well that he'll never have to make this decision himself... If a man wants to make such decisions on behalf of the woman then yes, there is a case for calling that person anti-woman.
There is obviously something wrong here. He even contradicts hiself:
"PlayStation Portable will fail to make significant inroads against Nintendo's Game Boy. The handheld gaming market is huge--the Game Boy Advance outsells all consoles combined"
Then:
"In 2004, Nintendo will have followed Sega's lead by exiting the console business"
So Nintendo will keep its dominance in the handheld console market, but they will also exit the console market?
Hello? Handhelds are also consoles!
I'm sorry, but where did they find these people? In addition to your comment about the GameCube, Nintendo actually makes a profit, and in addition to dominating the handheld market, it also has lots of cash in reserve for bad times.
These "analysts" really piss me off. Why do they get to write these things, and why do they get the publicity, when they are obviously incompetent fools? Does anyone have this moron's e-mail address?
The Queen is a great representative of her country and people. The Queen can be an ambassador to further foreign interest in her country.
Guess what, the Monarchy brings in a lot of money. The Queen and her palace is a tourist attraction. She is part of Britain's history. Combine Britain's proud history with the continuation of tradition which leads to direct income through tourism and a sense of national pride.
Let me guess, you are a leftist/socialist and believe that we are all equal, regardless of our achievements? Well, let me tell you, tradition, history and national pride are far more important than your petty attempts to talk nonsense about an important institution in the UK.
" the KHTML engine rocks and could make great inroads against IE (compared to Mozilla/MozFirebird, which doesn't seem as fast as IE to load or as responsive on low-end hardware, even though it's a superior browser/renderer engine)."
There's already Opera for that, and it's great for lower-end hardware. No wonder, since it has to work on embedded devices, and they aren't exactly the most powerful systems. But I'd love to see KHTML for Win32, for one reason:
"would like to certify that my projects work in KHTML
Yes! This is why a KHTML browser is needed. Sure, it can compete with MSIE, Mozilla and Opera, but webmasters need it to check their code!
However, it does have some way to go before it can rival Mozilla and Opera when it comes to standards compliance. But with Apple behind it, it might turn out to be better at that in the future.
Windows XP starts up significantly faster than Windows 2000. Than any other Windows version, probably. We're talking far less than a minute here, maybe as little as 15-20 seconds. Neither Mandrake, SuSE, Slackware or Debian (which are the ones I've tried recently) start faster than XP - they take significantly longer.
Not that it really matters to me, though, since I keep my systems running 24/7 anyway.
Are you saying that for something to be cool, it has to be approved by some committee consisting of "popular" jocks and models? Can't it just be cool for geeks, and that's it?
Does it look like anyone is into Anime and similar things to pull girls? No? Then why are they into it?
Maybe because they think it's... cool!
I can easily get laid without Anime, so why should I care if that brainded bimbo over there isn't going to approve of my taste in entertainment?
They are completely different games, really. Different moods, different gameplay... I like them both, for different reasons. But maybe SMB2 (as we know it) got me a bit more involved because it had some unique levels and was quite a stray from the path between SMB1 and SMB3. I don't know... I see SMB2 as a bright and cheery game, while SMB3 is a bit more sinister again. Maybe you just like feelgood games:) SMB2 had lots of nice levels that belonged in this fantastic dream world. I happen to have my old SNES in front of me right now - I brought it back from a box in a dark room somewhere a few days ago. I have Mario All Stars, and SMB2 is there... Maybe it's time for a bit of retro gaming!
But in any case, yeah, SMB2 is really nice. Maybe you have fond memories of it because it's one of those games that make you feel good while playing, and it's more about fun than darkness and evil. Even Wart is cool!:)
Sony has the exact same problem fighting Nintendo's GameBoy as Nintendo has with the PlayStation:
Nintendo has a huge base of games - popular such, for the GameBoy, and with backwards compatibility, their next handheld will have so many games available for it Sony will never catch up. Just like Sony has huge support from third party gaming houses, and Nintendo will have a hard time battling Sony because its PS is backwards compatible.
Scratch that, Sony has an even harder time! Nintendo produces killer games that are exclusive to their systems. Sony does not have this strength, so while Nintendo can build on this both for their next home system and next handheld, Sony will have to hope for some franchise to rival Nintendo's well known characters. So the chances that Nintendo can catch up with Sony in the home gaming market is good, due to the fact that Nintendo has Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, and so on. Sony, on the other hand, has... Not much. Many (most?) titles are available for other systems anyway. Nintendo has a lot of unique, exclusive titles.
Mark my words. The PSP will have a hard time beating the GameBoy line.
(Yes, this is an old story, but some things just need to be pointed out.)
"Sorry, but just because some noble project is in trouble, all the slashdotters should empty their wallets to save their ass?"
Says who? You don't have to donate if you don't want to. If you don't find the site to be useful, just ignore it. Apparently, a lot of people do find it useful, and therefore donate. No one says that you have to empty your pockets either - every penny helps.
It is kind of interesting that you should be posting a comment for this story, and at the same time you advertise a completely unrelated web site outside your sig! This means that you insert it into every comment.
I am not attacking you here, I am simply making an observation, and I am wondering if this isn't the kind of thing which contributes to "pollution". Your site could have been left in the sig, because then I wouldn't have to view it if I didn't want to.
A search for teens using Google didn't show any adult sites on the first four pages at least. I just had a quick look, and on page four I didn't bother going any further.
And the other comments about ring tones. What are you people searching for? I don't seem to have these problems at all.
I am not sure if you were being sarcastic or not in your comment about the Inquirer.
The Inquirer isn't always trustable, one might say. For example, it posted an article about the Opera web browser, claiming that it was spyware. This is of course nonsense, and the author of the article never even did any research - he just jumped to conclusions. Opera was never even given a chance to respond to these false accusations. It was later half-way retracted.
It would have been OK if they had completely retracted the story without trying to wash their hands and come up with bad excuses, but their excuse was more of the "it wasn't really our falt" kind.
They even said that they contacted Opera's "PR company" to get a response (after the article was posted). Strange that, since Opera apparently handles its own PR. The "PR company" is part of Opera, and not a different company at all.
"At the industry's urging, for example, California recently passed a law making it illegal to use a camcorder in a movie theater."
I assume I'm not the only one who sees how disturbing and utterly useless this is?
Why should the industry be able to push through nonsensical laws such as this? It is yet another defeat in the battle for the rights of the consumer.
For one, this won't help prevent movie piracy at all. TeleSync releases are not generally recorded in crowded movie theaters. Instead, they use empty theaters and plug the camera directly into the sound source. If they didn't, you would hear all kinds of weird noises and heads moving in front of the screen, etc.
This law is not only completely useless in that it won't help battle piracy at all, it proves that corporate interests are pushed with blatant disregard of consumer rights and basic knowledge about these things.
You don't add yourself to the whitelist, you are added to the whitelist.
And the technical details of the whitelist could be anything. It would probably be stored on the receiving client, integrated in the address book or similar. Remember, the whitelist is just a way to tell your client that "this person does not need to do the computation". You would receive the mail even if the person isn't in your whitelist, which is why this thing might just work.
This is exactly why it will make an impact. It will cost spammers time and money, and will therefore make their lives harder. The result is less spam for us, and more expenses for spammers.
But there are plenty of spammers who won't bother to invest in equipment this expensive. One of the reasons spam is so "successful" today is that it is trivial to send out millions of mails at once.
This is not the end solution to spam, but it would surely make their lives harder. It would make it more expensive and time consuming, and thereby attacking the spammers where it hurts: Their wallets. People do spam because it pays. If it pays less and is even more hassle, it is not worth it for many of them.
If someone wants to receive bulk mail from you, they will have added you to their whitelist. When signing up for mailing lists, you have to confirm your subscription. You would do this by adding the mailing list to your whitelist. So regular mailings are not affected at all, since the mailing list could just drop the delivery and remove you from its distribution lists if your client asks for the computation to be done. Or it can add you to a list of people to send mail to to remind them to add the mailing list to their whitelist.
What makes you think they haven't taken over as many zombies as they can right now? Why should they hold off using those zombies, when there's always a danger that tomorrow, many of them will be fixed/patched?
And the owners of these zombies may even get it fixed when their system suddenly starts locking up because it has to do all these computations.
In order for a virus to infect your system, you have to run the virus code. Just receiving a virus through mail will not get you infected when using most e-mail clients.
