    Excellent point! As a 30 year programmer, I made the transition from C to C++, and saw some horrible code written by what I csll "academic " programmers. That sort of approach would elegantly hide away all traces of the applications flow by using every type of tool the programmers used in writing their thesis. I learned a lot if ways NOT to write readable, maintainable code. Most if my C++, looks mostly like C language with classes (and solved the problem I was assigned). C++ can keep its polymorphism and templates and other obfuscations thank you just the same. There is an old, interesting blog post from Martin SÃstrik from 2012, about why he regretted writing Zero MQ socket comm library in C++ {http://250bpm.com/blog:4} which I found rather amusing then and still. Now, anyone up for s raging debate over the merits of C# vs. Java ? :-0

    What do you base your opinion on , saying cloud computing is more expensive than running your own dedicated servers. Perhaps you did not have an optimized configuration or are not considering the full costs in your comparison.

    It's all just makeup. The bigger issues that need fixing are under the skin. Its still confusing for example, when Word decides to move your graphics to some random location in your document. Have you been screwed by the Office365 vs their free Office (microsoft live?) confusion? MS is so large that thete are two different development stream, with separate support groups. Try getting help from MS? Yea right! MS had only produced two good programs and 1 OS in their whole life (Visual Studio, Excel, and DOS). They really have much more important problems to solve than their bloated UI.

    If we the people only get fed news that only appeals to us, how are we supposed to weigh out the issues of the day. Myopic insight only lead to self satisfied conclusions. Its sort of like only taking right hand turns and being bewildered why you only go in circles.

    I was referring to both. An API is sort of a contract. An interface is meant to be a defined relationship with expected responsibilities on the caller and the host. If the host wants to change the interface, they should add a new function, rather than modify the existing one. At least, they should notify the users that a serious change had been made, so that the caller can do better testing.
