I didn't like.hack at all it was to fantastic. Watched the two OVA's that are out and I gave me a headache as someone who's tech savvy. The game will be average at best.
A DVD of the first four episodes (I think) is coming out in January. It'll probably sell well. Who would pay for PPV then buy the DVD.

You can't stepdown DC voltages efficiently because transformers work on the basis of magnetic flux. To create magnetic flux you have to have an alternating current. The reason they are more efficient then DC alternatives(voltage deviders) is because they don't consume power(idealy).

How would you stepup/down the voltage efficiently(in terms of power) with 50VDC? There would also need to be a gigantic AC/DC converter. Tons of home electronics use transformers to step down voltages into a usable range, this can only be achieved with AC. We made the right choice when we chose AC to power the world, it's much more efficient (see three phase generators, line power loss).
It's from a Southpark episode (207 to be exact) called "Gnomes". I'd suggest downloading (kazaa would make short work of it) it if your really interested, very funny episode.
What isn't cliche? Or rather what hasn't been done before in any way shape or form? (as if this hasn't been said on slashdot before)
Yes there are lots of cookie cutter animes, but they usually focus on character developement more then anything else. (Love Hina, Ai Yori Aoshi, Kanon etc. etc. etc.) When anime shows are modified for a US audience they loose the character development and keep the filler, that's why most characters seem very 2 dimensional if the character developement isn't integral to the plot(Cowboy Bepop, Evangelion, Trigun). And when the plot is all that's left in any story, not just anime, will seem cliched.
On the other there are alot of genre bending animes that can't be described by anything but original(FLCL,Serial Experiment Lain, Excel Saga there are lots many but I'd be repeating myself). These are the animes that don't get their time in the spotlight because they are to obscure but they do open doors for others (Lain spawned Hack//.sign in a sense). These anime aren't always the best mind you.
Futurama is actually a good example of what's right with animation, including anime. Limitless possibilities. That's why Futurama has such dynamic plots. "What's that you want to have a talking crustacean doctor? What year is it again? 3000? I think we can pull that off." Futurama also isn't immune from cliche. The space "thing" has been done before. Gangster's in space? Sounds like an episode of Coyboy Bebop if we're being topical. Futurama is a very good show and I would rank it high on a list of my favorite shows. Infact a someone Japanese probably would also rank it high, animation has no borders there as it sometimes seems here.
I guess I'm just feeding the fire with my comments though since you seem to have some problem with people who have a hobby.
Damn you and your loose ethics... j/k but this all has to do with the stigma people have in the US about animation being kid only. Not to mention the censorship.
Maybe you should check out some japanese comics they have very good plots and artwork. Just because it isn't made in the USA doesn't mean it has no merit.
I also doubt people started watching anime because they wanted to be "l33t". Perhaps they unlike you saw there's more to anime then they thought.
Never heard of that method of getting anime before but if you don't plan on watching the series ever again it's certainly efficient and somewhat economical.
Noir is a bit primitive. Heck it lacks blood in any way shape or form, but I did think the story was decent.
Kajiura Yuki does the music for Noir (the opening and the ending are the highlight), while it is good I find it much to repetitive much life Hack//.sign's music which she also did the music for.
FLCL is a great show, and the music is just amazing.
Nadesico is just to wierd for america. Gekigangar anyone? GEKIGAN BEEAM!!!
Berserk will never see the small screen for two reasons:
1. The story never auctualy ends (not in a DBZ type of way)
2. The sex and violence.
Reason one might not matter if the rumor of a second season is true but you can't and neither can the censors ignore reason two.
Ebichu lol. How bout some Hamtaro followed by a little of that. I do try and get my friends into anime, at least ones that are willing. I find Cowboy Bebop to be the universal great anime that can accomplish this. I would not try to accomplish such a feat with a commedy tho (except for maybe Golden Boy that show is funny), the japanese sense of humor is different and consists mostly of slapstic and sex jokes, there are alot fewer verbal jokes.
The only thing good about this is that hopefully this will save Futurama from Fox's chopping block. Syndication is probably the only reason shows like the Simpsons have lasted as long as they have(don't tell me about King of the Hill can't explain that one). The lack of syndication killed Family Guy (still one of the best) and it almost and might still kill Futurama.
Now back on topic, the fact that Cartoon Network is cutting the ammount of anime by alot is sad because, I thought the exposure was good for the community as a whole. There might be another reason why they're cutting down on the anime. Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex is rumored (can anyone confirm?) to be airing on Cartoon Network in January. This show is just plain incredible, people who liked The Matrix will certainly like this show. It cost an incredible 800 million yen to produce and has some of the most amazing animation I've ever seen in an animation(movies included). CN might be cutting costs in preparation to air it, and with big name shows like Futurama airing they might need it.
BTW, November and December are to be a great month for Adult Swim. Tons of new Sealab 2021 episodes, one my favorite shows it's always good for a laugh.
They realy did bundle a crappy demo with the Xbox kiosks I suspect it's because most of the launch titles that realy kick ass are rated M and since you can't buy those without being a certain age why let people play em. Maybe we'll get different demos here in Canada.
Factor in the rate of extinction and I'd agree with you.
Wrong there was never an actual software program you could download to go along with the challenge. They're just related stories mod this down.

I think you'd be suprised, the club I belong to has an almost 1:1 gender ratio.
Sealab 2021 is the best out of any of the Williams Street's. Not that it's in bad company they're all great.

Just show End of Evangelion (now on DVD) instead of those episodes.

There is a huge community on IRC(irc.aniverse.com) but probably the easiest methode to get anime is Dirrect Connect(www.neo-modus.com).
You should join an anime club there should be one in your city. Lots of university/college's have them also.
