Cyberpunk (Gibson, Stross et al) Classic old school sci-fi (Clarke, Heinlein etc) Modern Space opera (Ian M Banks) High Fantasy (Tolkein et al Schlock Fantasy (Dragonlance, Drizzt)
Anyway, the real magic is how is their index that big when there's not that many websites?
If you look at this page in slashdot, and find someone who's replied more than once, then you'll see more than one link to their profile - each link goes to the same page so more links than content - even in this simple example
So, how many fscking cables do they have and can they please tell us exactly how many have to go down before I can't ping a single thing in Iran? I don't wanna go through this on the next 12 cables . .. Surely your military advisers would give you a better answer than/. George...
Not trolling, but has anyone done an analysis of the patent applicants that file from the US? I wonder if this USA expertise is almost entirely based upon an influx of expertise from other countries, rather than relying on the US education system
My 25,000 shares of MVIS also thanks you. I'm betting big dollar that someday micro projectors will be in every music player and phone, much like almost every phone has a camera now (I made a similar bet on OVTI a few years ago and was not disappointed). You must be gutted. There's only a 9 month window over the last 5 years when you could have bought those shares and made any gains. Still, hold out for the future eh:)
As a student at Caltech in Prof. Nate Lewis' Chemistry class, I feel obligated to ask why the correct spelling of "Caltech" from the article was converted into the incorrect spellings of "CalTech" and "Cal Tech"? I realize that we don't conform to the usual abbreviation for Tech schools but it's a "little t" for "Caltech" That's realise
So I guess this means that fairly soon there'll be a huge right of people in the UK to remix old music to their hearts content and release it to the UK market only with no royalty implications, but when it is released internationally the original artist will still be able to claim royalties off of sales.
Satcoms is high latency and expensive. If you can link everyone to the local mesh with their own coveragebot then it's a big improvement for local comms
A more interesting question is "when does meta gaming becoming an exploit" as in the alleged mass login and logout of the goon+ fleet in said war for JV1V.
A lot of accusations have been flying around about a deliberately crashed node allowing the attackers to completely bypass the defences and I'd like to understand CCPs position on this
The successor product from Nokia, the N800, actually has 2 SD slots, and with a kernal patch can support the high capacity SD cards, giving you 16GB+ of storage
This is based on the Nokia 770, so it's Linux (debian) based. What apps would we need to put together an put a frontend onto to make this a reality for either the 770 or the newer N800?
It seems that with smarter cars, less willingnesss to take risk, the world described in Demolition man is becoming real:(/me jumps down the nearest manhole
Software patents are not the only bad thing about the patent system. This is a good thing(TM) if it reduces licensing cost for new technologies since it will allow easier access to more manufacturers ==> competition which means cheaper goodies:)
Surely this will be an additional revenue stream for hotels as they can charge the same as existing PPV to allow hotel TiVO access to external content which is more appealing to the hotel guest?

Ing. Hell.
Who the fuck do they think they are?
(I'm poor, and it works, why would I upgrade?)
You are the cause of the credit crunch! Support the economy with inappropriate consumerism
Move to Europe - we have a choice of carriers all across europe who can offer this :)

112 is the European equivalent of 911 that is standard across Europe. Most phones will also unlock on 999 (the UK specific number)
;)
112 also works in the UK, even though many here would love to think we're not in Europe
hmm, you owe me $lots*10000
Decent music though :)

Sounds like quite a good deal actually

Thanks for that - the clearest explanation of group velocity I've heard. /notes

Kismet + aircrack +??? = $3600
:)
Nice

...Getting paid by some corporate entity to hunt down prior art to all their competitors new IPRs. Kind of like an anti-patent attorney...
If you get commission for every patent you kill, there'd be a fortune to be made.
