    Mr. Aaron Swartz's death, although he has committed suicide, was inevitably linked to the way the US government's handling of the hacking community.

    As a former hacker --- although for old farts like me the term "hacking" is a little bit different from the script kiddies thingy that anon are doing nowadays --- I too personally mourn the death of Mr. Aaron Swartz

    When people talk about "education" they always think of getting a degree or something

    But to us, who have been in the tech industry for ages, we know that education doesn't always necessarily equate to sheepskins

    I rather pay high salary to a guy who knows what he is doing than another one who comes with a stack of meaningless sheepskins.

    I think I am not the only one, especially those of us who knew Steve Jobs, who will say this ... It'll be a very sad day if the movie that supposed to tell the story of Mr. Steve Jobs becomes a movie that is "entertaining".

    Steve Jobs is never an "entertaining" kind of guy. In fact, Mr. Jobs can be the worst kind of SOB when he was in his mood.

    Android loses money for everyone except Samsung.

    While there _are_ vendors who have failed on their Android offerings, many others are making decent profits from it.

    While many of those second tier brands aren't well known to the West, they are being widely used in many third world countries in Africa, South America, as well as Asia.

    Right now I'm outside of the USA and I do not know how this bizarre court ruling gonna affect me.

    And I am not alone in this --- many people that I know started our respective careers and business ventures in the Silicon Valley, before moving on to something larger and better elsewhere.

    There are two groups of people who will benefit from this ruling - the attorneys (particularly the tax attorneys) and the accountants.

    A professor who cowed down to tptb is a professor with no integrity

    The job of a professor is to teach

    But "teaching" encompasses more than the particular subject at hand

    The character of the teachers (professors for this case) is also an important factor

    Students learn much more from professors who have backbones than those from the family of invertebrates.

    Most of those who are filthy rich were originally from lower to middle class, just like you guys.

    They got to where they are because of one thing - they got tired of working for someone else.

    I know, I know, the recession and the tech have killed a lot of middle class jobs, but to some, this crisis is the perfect chance for them to do something about it ... like starting their own business, instead.

    So ... why are you guys moaning the loss of your work?

    What is the use of complaining?

    Do you think that by complaining here (and elsewhere) you can get a better job?

    Why don't you start your own business, for a change?

    * 3(a). Was it because of incompetence, or was it because the American scientists were not allowed to publish their finding, if they had found it before the Europeans?
