    Unfortunatly all college students in UK colleges taking 4 or less AS/A2 levels have to take the European Computer Driving License (didn't apply to me doing 5), it covers pretty much all the basics to using Windows.

    Halogenoalkanes (when stable like I'd imagine halon is) break down when they are exposed to UV light in the upper atmosphere, with the halogen atoms forming free radicals which then go onto destroy the ozone, google for it, you'll get a much better explanation than I can remember from my A level chemistry.

    Here's a bandwidth chart of a medium sized UK isp: Zen, P2P is a pretty sizable chunk of the whole with HTTP not far beind.

    Terra Nova was another of their excellent games, I'd love a sequel to it, first FPS game I played with a decent, involved storyline (had just about everything, pirates, turncoats, Earth coming to destroy us), it was also pretty graphically excellent at the time, you could go from medoicre 320x240 to breathtaking 320x400!

    QuakeNet probably won't get targeted as they have a highly active anti-worm/trojan squad equipped with a trojan scanner (my work) and other services which hunt the network for flood clones/trojans/illegal botnets automatically.

    I also don't see why someone would want to write a JVM for the .NET CLR, perhaps someone wiser than I could enlighten us (after looking on the IKVM FAQ none of these questions were answered partically well.. :)

    the manufacturer's products abide to the book standards, red book for CD's, unfortunatly copy protection methods break the standards, therefore you can expect flakey performance, or even in some strange circumstances a cd breaking a piece of hardware (seem to remember it affecting some imacs like this, requiring them to be sent to the repair shop!).

    Unfortunately I didn't see the Q&A, else I would of asked something about CAPTCHA's, I believe these systems, implemented properly could have a real dent to spammers wallets, there was a website that used this system to allow legitimate mail through, I've lost the URL however (damned K-Meleon bookmark support!), but it's a really good idea.

    It worked something like this, legitimate sender sends mail, autoresponder sends back mail with 'Visit this URL, to confirm your address'. The legitimate sender visited the address, entered the obfuscated word and their mail was delivered (and address added to a white list for future correspondance).

    I wrote a simple CAPTCHA in PHP (yey gd!) in about 30 minutes, so why legitimise spam when this ideal solution has emerged? :)

    Unfortunatly this isn't the great news we were promised and hoping for from
    this white paper, a few weeks ago,about the governemnt setting targets
    for CO2 and renewable energy levels, instead they've set aspirations
    (see the BBC , The Sunday Herald
    and The Telegraph).

    Most people seem to share the view that New Labour 'aspirations'
    mean absolutely nothing, and we'll probally end up in 2050 with
    more coal/gas/nuclear (best option in my opinion) powerstations than
    ever before.

    More like Microsoft Open (or possibly Free) BSD, it has worked perfectly for Apple, the only reason they haven't done it is they're entrenched(spelling?) in the NT kernel.

    We at QuakeNet don't give trust (more than 5 connections from one address permitted) to people not running a proper (non alterable by users) identd, trusts are used for shells, bots, bouncers and so on.
    If we get abuse from a user in the trustgroup, we just:
    /msg o trustgline some_shell_with_5000_vhosts ident 99y abuse

    and they're gone, with all possible vhosts banned (with that ident).

    Very very useful!

    Actually exactly the same is true for the Gecko engine, there is a COM object for it, you drop it into your VB/Delphi project and use it in 30 seconds.

    It also uses _exactly_ the same properties, methods and events, so you just change the name of the gecko control to the name of your IE control, and it works, I've done it.

    An excellent site for those of us living in the UK is http://www.techtronics.com/.
    These guys supply premodded DVD players, I bought my Panasonic from here last Christmas. Apart from the long delivery time, they were perfect.

    Mine has the fastforwarding through trailers/warnings, region free, and is demacrovisioned.

    They also have the option that (if you're a bit scared of soldiering inside your new £400 gadget like me) you can send them your DVD player and they'll chip it for you, of course if they screw up they pay for it (when I bought mine at least, may have changed now).

    Obviously you don't use IRC. Every second website you see pasted into IRC is a virus (for mIRC and IE, I use irssi and mozilla), I developed the software for QuakeNet that detects these automatic trojanscripts and takes them off the network with how to fix them.

    I remember seeing this interesting program on a Discovery program ~ 2 years ago, covering exactly the same topic.
    It also explained the effects of cosmic rays on space missions, from supernovas, and how more older stars are present in the 'arms' of the galaxy.

    It also went into great detail about the effects cosmic rays had on the early space missions, leaving very very very tiny dents (albeit all over) the spacecraft.

    Power usage and heat I'd guess, my geforce ddr gets boiling hot in my large tower case.
