That's got to be inflated.
Time Warner owns record labels, HBO, the Harry Potter franchise, lord of the rings movies....80+ magazines, movie studios, cable television providers...
Either that or Time Warner is seriously undervalued right now due to it's SEC mishandlings and the AOL crew giving them a bad name.
I'll stick with Firefox. On every site I test with my own machine, Firefox has always loaded the page faster.
I use this point to convert people all the time. They don't care about Microsoft versus open source but when they see that Firefox just runs better, they switch.
Netscape for one is a pretty much a rebranding of the Mozilla suite with heavy customization. A of companies don't use Mozilla but use Netscape still, which is essentially the same as Mozilla suite.
There are some power user features that come in the suite that I use on a regular basis. If I used Firefox I'd have to get them as extensions.
I think we should all send them feedback about that story.
Do they honestly think they can create new rules for the English language? I'm supposed to called the Web the "web" now? What's to differentiate that from a spider web? Idiotic.
It was probably just on a CD-R with minimal labeling.
This happens all the time, someone who's working the mixing loses their copy, one of the bandmembers...before you know it, it's leaked.
Not all musicians make money like Lars...and the money that the big selling artists make go back to record companies to cover the losses of artists that don't sell (about 98% of the bands out there).
Regardless, if you want music, pay for it. A little money going to the artist is better than none at all.
You want to tell me that my paying $1930 a month just to have a place to live isn't expensive? Sure I could move from Colorado to some small town in the south or something but then I wouldn't have a job either.
Get your head out of your ass. The united states has an extremely high cost of living compared to other countries.
This is FUD.
I work for TW on the webdev side, no support staff move has been announced.
They tout AOL as being the easiest experience for users to get online. You really think they'd move the support staff to another country where their accents are so thick no customer would be able to understand them?
We would have gotten a company memo about it. We get them about every staff change that happens. Now, unless I mistakenly deleted it I don't remember seeing one come through. show me the memo!
--So Microsoft has more than enough cash on hand to buy out AOL/TW--
Sorry, but AOL/TW != AOL. AOL is in the name so people often get confused by this, AOL is just another division within AOL/TW and all the other areas of the company are making assloads of money. Harry Potter, The Matrix, Lord of Rings? All owned by AOL/TW. CNN? AOL/TW.
I work for a subsidiary of AOL/TW and I laugh everytime I hear about "AOL/TW" going under because they are losing online subscribers...people don't realize that the "AOL" portion of AOL/TW is really just a small part of the overall corporation.
--Windows 98/NT/2K are your only choices--
Uh huh, right. That's why POS Win 2k servers are always going down, getting rebooted, etc...
The entire New England Sports Network's sites including The Boston Bruins, The Red Sox, and their e-commerce stores were all hosted on Linux (I'm sure they still are but the last development I did for them was last year).
We never had any problems with our linux servers and we were serving millions of dynamic pages a month.
The Micro$oft school of thought is the buy the most expensive machine possible so it can clunk along with IIS and SQL Server hogging all the resources.
Oh let's not forget the monthly fun ppl with IIS get to have when they get taken down from the latest worm.
Show me an instance of a Win machine outperforming a Linux machine with the same hardware setup. Show me hard evidence.
D'
Does that make things like skiing and pro-cycling not sports either? There's no net or defense in either of those.

Damn....pwned!
Daaaaaah. Retinas...burning.

Arrrr. Would mutinous astronauts walk the plank?
"Let's see if the Linux community can match his generosity" Was it really necessary to tag that on there?
How much stuff do you buy that's made in america anymore? Nowadays most of my gadgets come from Asia. DVD players, computer components, TVs, cars...
No I think it means more outsourced. IT jobs in Asia and India. And larger bonuses for american executives.
I think we should all send them feedback about that story.

Maybe they are just running on limited staff. The top article on webmonkey is from June 18th 2004.

Most of the time when they block you it's because you have an open mail relay. My mail host was blocked by AOL until I had them close the relay.
Ogg Vorbis a better format anyway, it doesn't take a crap on the quality of the audio like mp3 does. winamp plays Ogg files too.

AOL isn't throwing away the Netscape brand. It will use the name for it's netscape portal sites and channels regardless of the browser's fate.

yeah, getting my wallet cleansed regularly!
Right....
Actually, I was posting to the post above that one, that may have confused you.
Get a life, maybe you could lose some of that aggression if you spent more time having a social life instead of posting flames all day.
