..is for them to sell Windowless laptops. I can build a desktop on my own with parts from Newegg but if my girlfriend wants a laptop I still have to pony up for a Dell with a Windows license.
Yes but what you forget is Blu-Ray discs are playable in other Blu-Ray players. UMDs can only be played on PSPs. Also, UMDs don't offer better quality than DVDs. Why would you want to buy a movie twice so you can watch it on your home system and a portable? So this argument can't really be applied to the PS3, it's not the same situation.
We're hurting each other and also other animals and plant life on this planet. How many species of animal and plant have become extinct since man became the dominant species on this planet?
Your point totally makes sense. Apple has always dominated the creative/media departments of companies so this purchase just secures their position even more.
I'm wondering if this means they will kill off the Windows version of Adobe products. They have already done this with music production software when they bought out emagic and stopped selling Windows versions of Logic Audio. It makes sense from their business standpoint but it pisses me off because all my other music production applications I've purchases run on PC so I'd have to replace them all if I switch to Mac for Logic or I just continue to use my outdated version. Or switch to another application, which I really don't want to do since I've built a lot of custom objects for Logic that I use regularly.
I wonder how many photographers would switch to Mac if they killd off Photoshop for Windows?
I also had a Seagate Barracuda drive fry on me after only using it for 7 months. I purchased it for the performance factor and I'm pretty sure heat is what killed it. Now anytime I run more that one HD in a case I make sure I buy HD coolers to go with them.
Artists currently can't go straight to iTunes. You have to have a label to get on there and even then, they have the right to refuse you if they think it won't sell.
That's only partially true. Big name artists make money via touring, mid-level artists usually can break even and new groups/unknowns usually LOSE money touring. Getting out on the road is a lot more expensive than it used to be with the cost of gas skyrocketing and venues taking cuts from the merch. Also, if you are a smaller sized or indie band, the manufacturing cost per CD has doubled the past year due to rises costs of oil (CD plastic comes from oil) and the fact that the majors are not doing as many small production runs now as they are taking less chances on developing small artists and spending more money on the bigger acts. The majors spending less money on manufacturing means the plant has to charge more for everyone else's small runs. Added to this, the value of the dollar has dropped significantly and most CD manufacturing nowadays is done in Canada.
Sorry to go off tangent there but it comes down to, it's hard for bands to make any money on the road unless they are already Madonna/Shitney Spears sized.
Why waste all that money, time and effort putting *dead people* into THE GROUND were they are just using up valuable real estate?
Same thing. It's because it's a memorial. Not everything has to have practical value.
The Pentagon is pretty sure that North Korea has a couple of nukes already but they don't have the ballistic missle technology to reach the United States. Currently, they are more of a threat to South Korea and Japan.
They are selling their Taep'o-dong 1 boosters to Iran though, which is not good. If Iran develops nuclear weapons they can use these boosters to reach nations such as Israel.
They estimate North Korea could develop booster technology necessary to reach the United States in a few years though.
Why do I have the strange feeling I've seen this on slashdot before.
Wasn't the consensus then to just buy that same model keyboard directly from the original manufacturer and then spraypaint the keys black yourself?
Why doesn't a company just combine several of these technologies into one car? A bio-diesel hybrid with intelligence sensors.
Just log off! Or give them a virtual ass whooping.

How is it the MPAA? MPAA deals with movies, not music.

Meanwhile, MTV still refuses to play videos.
But they could be if there were given the opportunity to play more games on them. Then they would't have to buy two machines just to play games.
Anyone have the text for this article for those of us without NYT logins?

You also have to remember that Macs tend to last longer than PCs do so Mac users tend to upgrade less often than PC users.

Funny, I submitted this same story on November 7th.
Yeah, that's a bunch of FUD
Anyone have a mirror?

I dunno, the custard scene in Dead Alive was pretty priceless.

Not if my alcoholic genes have anything to do with it. Then again, it could be natural selection at work. Only the strongest brain cells survive.

Why not just use Firefox?
