Yes, every Jan 13th, the Irish come together to celebrate 'St Slashdot Day' where everyone gets together, drinks caffeine and then posts bogus tech stories to make Taco and Hemos look silly.
Well, okay, they don't but it'd be nice if they did... instead of the year round crap.
Sounds scarily like some of the browsers you get on PSC which are just the IE control bundled in with the QuickTime control, etc etc.
If he has actually made this, it'll probably be for Windows anyway...
For a really successful Apple topic on slashdot it needs to be...
a) something that's big in Open Source/Free software anyway like OpenOffice for Mac
b) rumour/lies
c) Apple hardware announcment
Which is a shame, because the Mac platform is really the only innovation I can see in the computing world right now. Take the Safari browser for example, David Hyatt is actually responding to other people's blogs about Safari and actually taking notice. No other company is doing things to this level of service.
the Zaurus is pretty sweet too... especially with all the VNC, etc you can run on it.
My boss recently upgraded from some Palm to a 64mb iPAQ... it's in colour, but he admits that there's very little more he can do with it.
Mozilla on Zaurus would be nice...
I wonder if Apple will ever launch the mythical iWalk PDA.
On the subject of the C5, it's interesting to note that the name comes from the ZX Spectrum opcode for PUSH BC, which apparently Clive Sinclair thought looked like "Pushbike" (a typical British phrase for a non motorised bike)
> Eating that food will also improve their standing within the game
It is possible, that they're referring to the fact that making your Sims eat makes them work better, less annoyed, etc... That's how it is at the moment.
I'm from the UK, and I don't admit to knowing much at all really.
I'm just keen to find out how things work, I like playing with stuff, reading about stuff and tinkering with code to make stuff happen.
There will be people there who will know far more than me, but maybe even these people will not know some of the stuff I know... either way, I'm going and it's going to be great fun.
Don't think I'm trolling, but not EVERYONE running IIS is a complete cretin, but this shouldn't affect anywhere near as many people as the last major IIS flaw, as the tools used to fix THAT one will fix this one.
This is hardly a major bug IMHO...
"an older, largely obsolete scripting technology - where the previous one lay in the ISAPI extension that implements ASP."
"The IIS Lockdown Tool disables this functionality by default. Customers who have retained the functionality but deployed the URLScan tool as discussed in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS02-018 would likewise be protected against the vulnerability."
So, it only really affects those sysadmins who don't bother to lock their server down. It's not going to be a major issue for the majority.

A whole new generation of...
;)
"It looks like you're posting a rumour!"
I hope Microsoft release BobXP to compete with this.

We'll probably find he's just compiled Phoenix and put his own name in the title bar...
... I wonder if he will open-source the code? Could make Safari even faster!
Rendezvous is extremely cool tech.

That's the SDK, not the full installer.
iPhoto is free, iMovie and iDVD have always required payment for new versions.
This is NOT news.

Someone's already doing it... http://www.xtrememac.com/foripod/case_bundles.shtm l
They recently registered iPhone as a trademark in the UK too.
Me Too! Seriously though, congratulations, and enjoy the rest of your days.
There is also iCalExchange - iCalX.com which is pretty damned good.
>And no TV without advertising? Would that be a bad thing? We have it. - we even have Digital TV that's (some channels) ad free Though we do pay a fee.
"Dude, you're getting a CELL!" ?

Don't blame yourself. Hemos should have checked.
Adium makes a good replacement for iChat.
Far quicker. Far more stable. Uses virtually no CPU cycles.
That's gotta be a record!
There goes my interest in the site then...
Hopefully he'll get some UK content sometime soon.
Still a great concept, similar to FriendsReunited.co.uk in the UK, but aimed at geeks.

True geeks would give their wives Perl necklaces... nowhere near as tiring, but at least more people on here would appreciate it.
