You know, the antics of the music industry (and the kind of thing that MS is kowtowing to with their DRM scheme) really pisses me off, but also convinces me that there will eventually come something to replace them both.
But, know what? It's their property. If they want to fuck up their distribution channels, fuck em. I can do without "so-called" modern music anyway. I go see live bands locally, get lit, and have a great time and I didn't need to buy a fucking copy-protected by the DMCA CD or cassette or anything. These guys are out there trying to make a living, maybe you should check em out. And if you catch them after the show, you might can convince them that they should distribute their songs on CD's for cheap and ask them (ask them) about how they feel about MP3's and music-sharing in general. Of course, they might not agree with you (or myself), but they have that *right* to do so.
So, I encourage, nay I *challenge* each and every one of you who would boycott MS or the RIAA to pick up a local newspaper and see what's going on in y our town this weekend. Chances are, there's a band or two actually worth checking out, and hey, it's not like you're going to meet chicks sitting behind your monitor.
Oh, and on-topic: Rock on Beale! I'm encouraged to see that grassroots hactivism coming alive!:) (hacker used in "coder" definition) Keep up the good work and keep fighting the good fight.
Be careful of bandwith issues. Bandwidth will always be a problem. No matter how much bandwidth you add, no matter how big you make your highways, no matter how much oil you drill, people will always use as much as you make, even if it means wasting it or creating enough traffic to degrade the whole thing. There is no substitute for efficiency. A better license can compensate for inferior technology to only a minor degree.
"Hardcoreware.net has the first full review of this board, which has support for 10 USB devices"
"I wish it had even more built-in USB ports, but six is a good start."
Am I missing something?
These problems with the RIAA and internet radio are nothing new.
Slashdot had a
story
on October 5 about how the recording industry is trying to
collect
royalties from webcasters who are streaming audio.
I have one, and they are just fabulous. It will run the Windows CE version of Office, which you can then convert to the PC version simply by dragging the file onto your PC's desktop. Nice, big screen is larger than any other PDA screen. Built in keyboard reduces the need for Caligrapher. Enough memory to do all of your tasks. These together make the Clio what it is. Look for a new version coming out in the "third quarter."
D-VHS may be superior, but it's still a magnetic tape format, like VHS is, correct? One of the things that I like about DVD is that no matter how many times I play a movie, it will never wear out. I'm sure we've all expirenced haveing an audio or video tape lose quality from overplaying. CDs and DVDs don't have this problem, so why would I want one? The DVD format could just be amended, like audio CDs/computer CD hybrids (CD-XA?) were ammended to the origional audio CD format. Plus if this is indeed a tape format, then you don't get that great near instant seek of DVDs. Is there anything to prevent these tapes from degrading?

This gives new meaning to the term Geeks in Space!
...the group of geeks were able to turn this project...
Sure, label them geeks on one a large, national web site. That will go over real big in the locker room at High School...

[joke] From my nose's interaction with the Geek community, SOAP is not something that they often come in contact with. [/joke]
I have a Motorola Minitor from my local Volunteer department, and my cat flips out every time anyone talks on the pager or whenever the tones go off.
