Apple should replace defective 3rd party product, within a reasonable time limit. The manufacturer made it, but Apple sold it.
When I have a problem with my car, I go to the car dealer. They didn't make the car, and they aren't owned by the car company, yet I take any problems to the dealer, not to the company, because that's who I bought it from. The computer industry is not exempt from basic retail policies just because it's expensive for them!
That reminds me why our Macwarehouse guy gets the orders. He's actually visited our office just to say hi!
This was a favourite of mine... "Comes with 4 USB Ports" Yeah. Right.
There are 2 on the back, you plug the keyboard in, so now you get the "extra 2" (having used 1, so you only have 3), then you plug the mouse in, and now you're back to 1 usb port.
So, does anyone else have sleep issues with SCSI hardware?
I have the SCSI card straight from Apple in my 933/QS Mac. It used to deep-sleep (no fan etc.) before Jaguar. Post Jaguar, it still spins the fans. I use a Nikon and a UMAX scanner with this card. All used to be well.
Without a job or reason to be Canadian (i.e. refugee), I think the going rate is $500,000 CDN, which is about $12 USD. It would be cheaper if you could contribute as a tax payer.
Further to that, the chance that NDP will ever be that party in power is the same: 0
Besides, the current government in Canada doesn't tend to make controversial laws. (Chretien wants to keep his "most poopular prime minister, ever" title...). And of course, until the right gets back together, the Liberal party will be in power for quite some time.
At the rate many digital cameras, especially the LCD screens, can eat up batteries, you'd have to carry a backpack of batteries to shoot all day. For my poor ol "analog" camera, an $8 battery can last 6 months!
it's just that comparing an Apple customer's perception of Apple support with a Dell customer's perception of Dell support is hardly an accurate picture
Is this not the frickin' point of a customer satisfaction survey? Ask the [Apple/Dell] customer how the [Apple/Dell] service is. So yes, it would weight in Apple's favour if Apple's customers like Apple, and then have a good experience with Apple's service. I would bet Dell's rating might drop if you asked Apple customers!?
You can't blame Apple for having enthusiasts which in turn rates their customer service satisfaction higher. That's the whole point of a customer satisfaction survey.
Disclaimer: Yes, I like (certainly not love) Apple, but I also don't generally like Consumer Reports (they tend to have their head up their ass when it comes to rating products that are a little more complicated. i.e. bicycles)
Great company, great computers... they just don't have a clue about advertising successfully.
Ok, I'll bite on this troll....I always thought there was one thing most computer users could agree on, even if they don't like Macs. Apple does innovative advertising and marketing.
Especially with the recent coverage they've been getting (and have been getting for many years, at least since oh, 1984)
BTW, I think the computers would be "Insanely Great" Computers heh
It is disappointing that Tech TV can't get its act together.
I don't think it's an issue with Tech TV. His Steveness won't allow them to broadcast it (ever). Seems to be on par with the recent press-pass blacklisting
I'm on an old B&W 400 MHz G3 and my finder performance is just fine, even on the 3 gigs of files I moved off my previous computer.
You must have some other problem.
I've seen the spinning beachball of death way too many times. Basically, while finder is doing something, WHY can I not just open another finder window, and continue working. I can open photoshop and finder is still stuck spinning away (maybe a "cancel" feature i.e. Cmd-. would work????).
It's the same as ol' OS 9 finder, but this is X. The finder performs reasonably well, it just bogs right down at the most inconvenient time.
Maybe I'm just still pissed I couldn't use my G3 upgraded Power Centre Pro with OS X... Maybe it's because I'm a believer in just hammering away at the "supercomputer" faster than it can keep up. (I'm not trying to be arrogant, I just want a little bit of the Reality Distortion Field to come true).
I just shelled out a premium to buy brand-new Apple hardware, and now they start nickel-and-diming me to make it work like it should (read: reasonable finder performance). Yay.
They knew it was Katz!

I still think the Earthlink/AOL techs were Slashdot readers, who actually know who Jon Katz is.
Payback's a bitch!
I'm really just mad I read the whole damn thing before I realized it was Katz...
Well then, sorry to interrupt! Carry on with your banter.
When I purchased my G4/tower, I opted for the CDRW instead of the Combo Drive - I didn't need to read DVDs (a few years ago).
The big difference: the write speed of the plain CDRW was 24x, while the Combo was only 8.

And I quote:
As for the Apple connection, Schwartz said that the practically every Sun employee owns an Apple desktop at home.
"He's Albanian"
"You mean all white with pink eyes?"
Bring it on! Francoise Ducros was right.

All my CDRs work perfectly in this player. Oddly enough, my 2 year old Sony DVD player barfs on any media I can write to except CDRW...

Long live John Morgan!
Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos!

I believe they mean first official client authorized by AOL, (without a reverse engineering process to use the protocols)

As long as it gets rid of those damned X10 pop-up ads!
www.macsurfshop.com has some interesting designs, including making fun of 'ol Steve from Dell.
If it weren't for customs to Canada, I'd have one already (not to mention the exchange rate)
RISC processing is going to change everything!
