But forget the snow. I am tired of stopping my car to buy bottled water on the way home from work.
Just open the Nalgene, kill two birds with one stone:)
You would of course still need to keep a bottle in your car unless your are either exceptionally endowed or quite flexible... perhaps we should just stop this thread on that note.
Well sure, "At Duke, Pomona, Harvard and elsewhere, D's and F's combined now represent about 2 percent of all grades given.", but everyone seems to forget that in College, if you get those grades a few times, they kick you out.
I think that's a problem with the administration though. It's unrealistic to think that everyone in a class can be above average. That's what a C is supposed to mean right? Perhaps the people that think everyone should get A's and B's needs to go back to school themselves and take some math classes so they know what average means.
"if your father had tenure (which i'm assuming he does), she should have politely told the principal to stuff hsi academic dishonesty where the sun don't shine, told the girl if she wants an A she can earn it, and gone back to class. hell, even if he didn't have tenure..."
I missed the part about his dad being a transvestite.;)
To prevent DVT, doctors suggest flexing one's toes and ankles, drinking water and avoiding alcohol, and getting up to stretch one's legs at least once an hour. An aspirin, which helps to thin the blood, can also help.
Another study shows that large consumption of alcohol may actually be a benefit because people tend to fall out of their chairs and trying to get back up gives the legs enough exercise to prevent the blood clot from forming.

I was curios so I went to see what kind of stuff they're looking for:
Examples of useful items:
* Memory in quantities > 64 MB
* Desktop processors > 800 MHz
* Motherboards that support such processors
* Hard drives > 10 GB
* Laptops > 300 MHz
* Monitors, graphics cards, other similar goodies
Not to sound like a troll or anything but I'm running Linux on a K6-233 with 64mb ram right now. Granted, I just built a new main PC so that will soon be upgraded to an 850 with 256mb but even that is barely above the requirements.
That's easy enough, donate some large hard drives but before you send them, open them up and sneeze on them. Just be sure not to donate anything that can be used for easy backup.;)
What if Person A's 'something to sell' is a service, i.e. they work for Person B and the government collects income tax. Or how about property tax, Person A has something and so the government wants Person A to pay them a tax just because they have something. I personally think that's about the worst tax there is. At least sales and income taxes are based on the fact that I've earned money and have some to give to the government.
Surely you don't think all those CD recorders are being bought by people who want to back up their data?
Of course not, there's warez to be burnt too.;)
Consider this then. You get pulled over while driving the speed limit and the cop gives you a $100 ticket because even though you're driving the speed limit today, you may drive faster tommorrow.
Because it's an auto industry conspiracy! Conspiracy I say! And everyone knows that the auto industry is responsible for SUV's and all SUV owners are terrorists! It's the terrorists!!!
huh? You've got it all wrong. Money from gasoline purchases never ends up in terrorists hands, that only happens if you buy drugs. Maybe if you didn't skip through all the informative commercials on tv with your tivo, you would know better.;)
True, however I think the point he was trying to make is that even though you may have Windows and Linux installed on your PC, they don't run at the same time. i.e. you can't have Apache serving web pages under Linux while you play minesweeper in Windows.
How about if during the install it pops 2 windows at the same time. The thing is that the 2nd window is minimized and has these extra options on there already checked for you. Once you click next on the main window, it closes the extra window and assumes you want to receive their spam because you didn't open the extra window and uncheck those options.
I'm not sure if that type of thing should be illegal but surely you must agree that it's unethical and should make the agreement meaningless.
I hope no one from Real reads slashdot or that might show up in the next version.
I assume your post is supposed to be funny but it's really not that correct.
But I guess they're not in widespread use, because there's very few nationwide retail chains who are able to keep track of all those complicated rules. The ones that are nationwide I think are getting smaller, like Wal Mart, Target and Best Buy, primarily due to the business overhead they face trying to keep track of all those state taxes.
So if I buy something from www.walmart.com, I pay all the same state/county/city taxes as if I drove down to the local WalMart and bought something there?
I could be wrong but I don't think so.

I have both available in my area but I chose DSL for a few reasons.
1. I dislike Time Warner (ok, that doesn't really count because I dislike Verizon just as much)
2. My Cable tv was always going out so I assumed I would have frequent problems with cable internet.
3. Price. I wanted a static ip so I could host my piddly little domain. Verizon could do it for $80/month. Time Warner told me they could do static ip's 'real soon now' for about $125/mo. Not to mention when one of their techs first told me they would have cable internet soon, it ended up being about 3 years later.

I was wondering about that too.. when the alien ship takes off, it's going to leave an awful big pot hole in the highway.

You're right, dvd's are way underpriced. We should be paying at least $50 for one. At least that's how the **AA would interpret your statement.

Don't forget all the complicated, overdone html that stuff like frontpage spits out.. didn't have much of that back in '94 either. :)
