You've never seen a masters degree required in any job ads?
Try looking in the scientific, engineering and/or academic fields. The MS is often either required or preferred.
For instance, JPL often lists jobs as requiring X years or experience w/ BS degree or X/2 years of experience w/ MS degree.
This is obviously a trick by Godzilla to fool us into letting our guards down. After this "retirement" he is going to go back to his war room on Monster Island and begin forming his master plan... Godzilla: All Monsters Fuck You Up.
This brilliant plan will be unprecedented in its complexity. His next attack will be on the west coast of Japan, rather than the east, and will involve a never-before-seen stomp, kick, flail arms pattern. A stripped down and more efficient revision of his traditional kick, scream, stomp, flail arms methodology.
Now is when we must be most wary people. Don't believe it.
That was very funny...
But, the way I understand it - and I could be wrong - is that Gamera and Godzilla are actually competitors. Essentially, Gamera is a cheap wannabe created to fill in the gaps between Godzilla releases. Godzilla and Gamera never officially fought, and Gamera doesn't exist in the Godzilla universe.
As if that means anything.:)
Rent? Hell, you can BUY it for $5.00 at WalMart. Along with vs. Mothra, Terror of Mechagodzilla, Godzilla 2000, Revenge of Godzilla and uhhh... one other I can't remember. When I saw them all in the bargain bin I nearly squealed with joy.
And I'm not a squealer.
Nothing brings out more baseless and uninformed opinions than a copyright argument.
Basically, copyright law is one gigantic joke, and if you think what seems insane is impossible simply because it seems insane, then you are truly misguided. Personally, I am affriad of what this could lead to. There have been plenty of insane judgements in copyright cases.
It seems to me copyright law is essentially just a big game of Calvinball played in court. This scares me.
Well, I've been buying CDs very sparingly since all this started (until recently, I was a two to three CD a week person, even more if I can download a few mp3s of an artist to make sure I like their non-radio stuff). Seeing this utter bullshit, I have hereby sworn off all new CDs from major label recording artists. I'll buy used, I'll buy indie from CDBaby or something, but the R I fucking A A gestapo will not see one red cent from my pocket.
You know what makes this so crazy? Commercial organizations with money now have more power than even government agencies. If the CIA had published a list of individuals who were suspected of violating electronic laws, all hell would break loose. Instead, we all stand around shaking our heads at the audacity that comes with commercial power.
Personally, I like the laptop + docking station idea. It lets you use your computer in a conventional, comfortable way (keyboard, mouse, monitor) but also lets you get away from your asshole roomie, bring the PC home on break without packing 100 lbs of crap, and lets you use it as you wish.
Also, most universities these days have wireless networks. So I would go for that if you can afford the extra cost, but don't give up your ethernet port. WiFi should be strictly in addition to regular ethernet.
As for note-taking, just get a pen and some paper for Chrissakes. You aren't going to read them anyway, so why waste precious disk space?
It's not like p2p apps are actually "hogging" anything. Have you ever tried to load a webpage and gotten a "Sorry, the internet is too busy" error? P2p is simply using what is there. If there were no p2p applications, that bandwidth would just be sitting there unused.
Of course, with things like college campuses, with limited bandwidth, then yeah, I can understand where the complaint comes from. But just the internet in general? Come on.
It's so annoying that actually using the available resources is considered such a bad thing. Like complaining because there's so much traffic. Don't bitch because so many people are using your freeways, build bigger freeways! That's what they're there for.
Which means get your GW figs via ebay while you still can. Once this realization sets in, ebay auctions for Warhammer and the like will be bid up to astronomical prices. Like practically everything else on ebay these days.
He wimped out at the end. This letter basically says "I'm mad at you, but I'm not going to do anything about it. Please don't hurt me."
He should have told the RIAA to go screw themselves and try pressing charges on 15,000 students all sharing files openly. In which case, of course they would just press charges against the university.
It's unfortunate how much fear the RIAA wields. This letter is essentially pointless, and will have no effect. I'm sure the recipient had a good chuckle and threw it away.
Viruses are rampant on Windows, but the vast majority of viruses are pretty harmless. Even the nasty ones can be pretty well eliminated with decent anti virus software.
I'm talking about crippling attacks that make a machine unusable. There havn't been that many. "I love you", "Melissa", etc. But not that many.
I think, in order to really get Linux moving on the desktop, there will need to be some fairly major and widespread use of desktop security holes in Windows. I think the problems with IIS security and stability are the main factors pushing MS out of that area.
We know there are security problems with Windows desktops, but there are usually not very many widespread attacks on them. Which is good, but it's not bringing the matter into the light like it did with IIS.
We're talking about penny stock. So theoretically, if you could get even 50 people to make small purchases, that would up the amount of trading going on for that stock, which sets off alarms all over the world, with people who are monitoring penny stocks for movement. Remember, it's based on percentages. So you don't really see (unless you know what you're doing, which most folks don't) that the stock went from selling 5 shares a day to selling 50 shares a day. You see that it went up 1000%.
So then all those people jump on it, looking to invest pennies and ride a short spike and then dump it. Probably doubling their money at least. Going from 1 cent to 2 cents, or 2 to 4 or 3 to 6, etc isn't hard, and that is technically doubling your money.
So what happens is a few people make dumb decisions, a bunch of other people think those few people know something special, so they jump on it and so on. Before you know it you have a thousand people pumping money into a wothless stock. By the time everyone realizes what a dog they've bought, it's too late. They've already paid 40 cents for a 2 cent stock. Then a massive sell-off happens, which drives the stock into the dirt again, making it even more wothless.
Of course, this asshole had already bought a ton of it beforehand for pennies, then spent the whole time selling it to the newcommers for huge profit. I'm not sure if it's illegal, but it should be.

Great, yet another computer acronym with more than one meaning.
The best technology will win in the marketplace.
Duncan McNutt... Right.

Is SCO a Fortune 500 company? That would explain this.
What the hell kind of IT team has mascot anyways? I wonder if they have pep rallies for upcoming deadlines. And cheerleaders.
Hey... maybe it's not such a bad idea after all.

The Hacker's Diet
Also wrote "The Javascript Bible", which almost single-handedly carried me through my first job out of college.
Seems like SOP to me.
College student's life savings. So thats 12 times four, carry the 1; minus the sum and... comes out to roughly $125.16. Not a bad deal.

Billy Joewel.
Am I the only person who preferred Usurper to LORD? I just found LORD to be boring for some reason.

It doesn't take much.
