They're not the one I saw, but they look pretty nice. Thanks for the linkies. I caught a few correct words in there (mostly simple words like for, a, be, etc.). In the one I got in my class there wasn't a single word correct. It was a nice piece of work to craft it. Maybe this is the motivation I need for a Google adventure today.
If I hear someone use the term download incorrectly someone is going to get hurt. Almost everyone I talk to says they are going to download something when referring to tasks such as uploading, sending attatchments, copying from hard to floppy drives, and even copying or moving files from one folder to another. It gets pretty painful sometimes, and I don't know crap diddly about computers. I can only imagine what a network admin, or coder might think.
I was going to point that out. I took an English class in college that packaged with the syllabus and lecture schedule, etc. was a paragraph with every word spelled incorrectly. The only thing was that each misspelling was a real word and therefore a spell checker would say that the whole thing was correct. I wish I still had that thing, it was pretty priceless.
Beowulf cluster with cooperative tactics. One fires and then the neighbors fire in rapid succession after tracking any efforts to dodge. That sounds tasty.
Of course you could get the foam disc one for friends and then get one of the BB gun types for the "marketing weasels". The only problem is working out the software to differentiate between the two. If your company uses some sort of RFID ID cards (that is a little redundant) it might be pretty easy.
I think that question depends on the context of the game. I would imagine that there will be elements of both in many, if not most of the games.
There is a lot there to intrigue me, but I watched the video and was disappointed. I came away with more questions than answers. If gameplay resembles what was shown, then I think they might be onto something big. That being said I think there should be a bit more to it than an A, B, and D pad. I don't think it would have been too much to throw in a second trigger and a second thumb button. Maybe three thumb buttons. It will definitely be interesting and worth a trial at the store, but I need a bit more before I'm sold on it. You are absolutely right that it looks better than what came before, but it is still almost just a concept. IF it works out for them I think there might be a paradigm shift in game design and interface.
Wait a minute...I just had an interesting thought. In a FPS using two controllers for independent aiming of two guns could be very interesting.
While I said I don't know what you're talking about; it would be more appropriately stated that I don't follow your logic. I completely understand what you said, I just fail to see how saying the DC is great for the homebrews merits a rebuke for buying a new console. I don't really care to hear the same old ethical arguments. After being at slashdot for a while all the preaching to the choir on fair use and piracy gets a little old. If that makes me a heretic then burn me at the stake. My original post in a nutshell is that I still think the DC is a good piece of hardware and I wish there was going to be a new iteration. Invitation to agree or disagree with the technical merits of the console is welcome. Ethics is boring when everything is so one-sided as it is on slashdot.
But does that video really show anything? I want to see the thing in action with maybe an over the shoulder shot. I want to see how the thing works in the context of a game rather than a camera watching some people acting like they're using it.
I have no idea what you are talking about. One of the reasons the Dreamcast is still alive is homebrews. I'm talking about people creating their own content and making the images freely available for the community to burn and play. I'm not sure what you are talking about with your not having full access, and DRM, and all. This is the DREAMCAST I'm talking about here. You know, same generation as PS1. I don't know anywhere you can stand in line to buy a DC. When a side discussion on an old console comes up, please don't go on a political rant about the yet unreleased console and why you won't buy one.
The same argument can be said about the music industry, the movie industry, the fashion industry, the food industry, and so on, and so on. It is absolutely the parents' role and responsibility to govern (I know bad choice of words) what comes into their homes. It isn't a question of how much time a parent should spend (the answer is, of course, as much as it takes). It is a parents job and no one else. I hold my kids to a standard and other parents hold their kids to a standard. Who is to say that my standard is right (it is, of course)? If the family down the street sees no problem with letting their kids play GTA San Andreas WITH the adult material and other media like violent movies, books, etc. the parents have that right. Punishing only one industry is ridiculous. I'm grateful for rating systems to use as a guage of content and assist with my decision making, but it is responsibility to spend the time with my kids and know what they are watching, reading, playing if I want to have any choice in the matter. It takes time and it really doesn't take that much. I can't expect anyone else to take that responsibility and I don't want them to. They will not hold my kids to my standards. I don't know if the Governor is the ideal choice of defendant, but I hope they win.
I'll be there opening night for the Tick! That was a great show. I only got the chance to see one of the live action shows and I thought it was good stuff. I think the biggest problem with the show was the time slot. It was doomed from the beggining.
I'm with you. I actually read Power Pack and enjoyed it. But at the time it was being published I was the age of the characters and I was just getting into comics. I won't say it was the best comic, but I enjoyed it and I welcome a potentially good movie that I can take my kids to. Most of the movies targeting kids these days are horrible (with the exception of Pixar stuff).
Cloak & Dagger
Not that Cloak was a completely contrived character, or that Dagger wore far too little clothing, but how could this movie possibly be interesting?
I don't see what the problem is here. You've got a lithe blonde chick in way too little clothes. Sounds like this is going to be a commercial success to me.
That's why I mentioned the Dead Sea Scrolls. They are the oldest Biblical manuscripts (except for the book of Ruth, I believe) in existence. I believe the manuscripts the KJV was translated from are about 1000 AD and the manuscripts for the Vulgate are from about 500 AD. DSS are from 200 BC to 70 AD. I believe the Bible is chock full of mistranslations. Some of them are trivial, but some are not.
I can't help but think that the great something parent post that first brought in the "Bible doesn't change" thing is one of the "the Bible is infallible" types. Maybe when it was originally written, but today is another story. I can't help but wonder where in the world he got some of his statements.
But if I am to believe what is on the wikipedia page on the Talmud, it is the oral law while the Torah is the written. Since Genesis is in the Torah I would tend to go with the Genesis account. Oral traditions usually make many changes over time before they are written. The Torah at least is had among the Dead See Scrolls. That gives us a relatively old copy to go from. Why it would be in one and not the other is anyone's guess. There are other Genesis-like texts in the Scrolls, but if the writers had any bias in Genesis then you can bet they would have the same bias in the other texts.
I'm not sure what being freemasons has to do with being christian? The few freemasons I've met are also christians. Granted a couple anecdotal experiences doesn't make me an expert.
Point taken. Of course the rape mob after the (implied at least) male angels is another story. I love the Old Testament. Some of the finest examples of human depravity in all the written record.
Similar to a rape victim having sex with the rapist. Lot's daughters got him incoherently drunk and getting themselves knocked up. It makes your post seem kind of silly.
I feel smart as a bag of hammers. I saw Google and thought "Hey, this is on Slashdot so that really says thanks to Slashdot."
I downloaded Opera right before the story made Slashdot, so no thanks, Slashdot!

Sorry, wrong planet. You're thinking Jupiter. If it was on Mars, it would create a Red Dwarf out of it.

And one thing you forgot to mention: HOMEBREWS! I'll take a Dreamcast 2, please!

I think Dr. Pepper is a D.O. They tend to have a better bedside manner.
Only if you chop off its head.
