I just remap apple key (command key or windows key) as another control key when I use windows. This way, I can use the same physical key for most of shortcuts (ctrl-c, x, v Vs. cmd-c, x, v etc). Personally, I prefer command key for these shortcus to control key because of my small hands. YMMV
Don't mix up two facts. No, the researchers who donated their eggs didn't get paid for it. Some others were paid, though.
One thing to consider is that it was before any code of ethics was established even in US, let alone Korea. It wasn't illegal, and wasn't breach of any known code ethics. I'm not saying that it's OK just because there was no regulation. But, it's also not something you can simply blame them for the lack of ethics, either (not that the op did that, but in general).
HDTV has nothing to do with display technology like CRT, LCD, DLP, etc. You can buy a CRT HDTV if that's what you want. (Yours might just be one of those)
The tech specs says "full-body button", which seems like the same type of mechanical button used in the current apple mice.
My understanding is that you can click the whole body just like you do with the current ones, but this one detects which finger(s) you used to click the full-body button so that a click can be interpreted as left or right (or both) click.
But, XBox hack was to run other things on it, not the other way around. I'm not aware of any way to run XBox games on my PC, which is more akin to running OS X on a PC.
I have no problem with let someone have get his reward when he provides me useful info.
What I'm afraid of is that it might lead to barrage of useless links popping up here hoping to lure some of us so that he can get paid, just like spam.
Organizing files in folders is conceptually same as organizing files based on metadata. It's just more restrictive.
File/directory struture is just a type of metada. File allocation table is something similar to index file. You seem to think by putting files in a certain directory struture you put them in specific bit order in your disk, but you are wrong. The actual bits of data can differ from the way your directory/file structure looks, just like metadata based organization.
Your idea of well thought out directory organization being the only way to go is a misunderstanding. Probablly you are thinking that organizing computer files is similar to organizing actual library and the books. Certainly it's a good idea to physically organize books in most general way, since index card apparoch can be inefficient in some cases. But unlike the actual library and books, computer data is already scattered around all over place despite the illusion file system gives you. Organized system is just another index card, not the physical placement of book. So why not use more advanced index card system than the primitive one we have?
Probably that too. It's like taking out food to eat later from an all-you-can-eat buffet.
Their whole buisniess model depends on the assumption that average turn around time is not that short. Every time you send back your DVD to get new ones, it costs them money. By copying contents to hard disk, you shorten the time abnormally, thus cost them more.
So, as long as mainland Chinese think that way, you don't care what Taiwanese think?
Go ask Taiwanese about the matter, they will answer exactly the opposite.
Yes, NeXT came with two-button mouce. But right button was used for a shorcut to the main menu. So basically you can do everything with left button without touching right button.
With a one-button mouse, the latter option is gone, and users are left out in the cold. One Apple salesman once asked me if I "knew about" the Apple-click option, which would bring up the context menu.
The latter option (of getting context menu through right button) may be gone , but users aren't left out in the cold. They can access the same feature through normal more visible way. And that's the whole point. Make shortcuts optional, not mandatory.
You are not buying a 32 bit machine because you fear they will only ship 64bit binary in a few years?
1. They wil ship both 32 & 64 bit versions, adding a 32 bit version won't cost them anything. They can even make on binary file contains both and load appropriate version when it's excuted.
2. The day they decide to drop 32 bit support will come much later than when you feel your machine is too slow to run those shiny 64 bit only programs.
I don't find it offensive, but I think these all 'template' jokes are really stupid and not funny at all.
If you want to be witty, be more creative and come up with your own joke for god's sake.
I'm not sure how it is in other countries, but, in Korea, only old people make 'template' jokes.
It's insightful? Come on, guys!

The CEO of Apple then was Gil Amelio. The decision was made by him not by Jobs. Jobs sure persuaded Amelio to buy NeXT, but he was not a part of Apple at that time. Jobs was brought to Apple as a part of the deal.
It wouldn't matter if they couldn't call it "Java". It would simply be the same old jview.exe that ran when you hit a JNLP link, applet, or application JAR.
If you meant MS would make something similar but not totally compatible and they can't call it Java, it sounds awfully similar to.NET and J# (or even C#)
I'm sick of this Betamax vs. VHS analogy.
Not because I've heard milion times, nor because it's simply not true (Betamax was not better), but because this has been pointed out almost every time it's mentioned, yet I'm still reading the same crap again and again.
This makes me understand why people spread FUD. Once misinformation gets into the mass, there is no way you can completely clear it up.
And we wonder why geeks don't have many friends...
Those who pirate Windows will do the same for games. So, they are irrelevant in this regard anyway.
IIRC, Gates was the stingiest guy among the billionaires. It was after MS was accused of abusing monopoly when he started to donate more money.
Prototype based languages are as OO as class based languages. They just use a different method for inheritance.
If you use an Apple (or any Mac) Keyboard, you can remap scancode for windows; check here for more information. http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/device/input/w2kscan -map.mspx/.

I thought this 'list of obligatory /. jokes' also became a cliche, too...
Not really. Just go and try any current apple mouse. It's no different than clicking a button in normal multi-button mice.

That's not a monochrome monitor.
Here's a link to a picture of mono monitor,
NeXT Mono
And, the color,
NeXT Color
Compare the bases, you'll see that Jobs indeed used a Color.
Look, if a person can handle a keyboard full of keys, surely they can handle a measley two button mouse!
Well... if all mouse buttons are marked like a keyboard, and do the same thing regardless of context.
If you are right, why can't I play piano when it has less 'key's than my keyboard? It should be simpler right?

Don't worry, it comes with a VGA adapter.

I don't know much about smalltalk either, but the first example produces 35 instead of 23 because in smalltalk there is no operator precedence.
That is, all operators are just messages, so they are used from the left to the right. It's like (3 + 4) * 5, thus 35.
