But that's just me, I loathe advertising in any form. I'm never a good target for it.
Optional advertising is a great idea; it filters out the people that will be offended by it (and who will attribute that offence both to the advertising venue and the advertiser). Everyone wins, the venue doesn't offend it's patrons, the advertiser only gets it's message out to receptive listeners, and people aren't offended.
I was using a 5 year old PC (with an 2 year old video card) to play games until recently. It worked fine. When I upgraded, I gave it to my brother, and he's still using it to play games.
I spent about $1200 in parts, including a $300 video card. That was the only concession to gaming. I'd have bought exactly the same hardware otherwise. Of course, I'd still need to spend $100 or so on a video card anyway.
Where do you get the idea that PC gaming is more expensive. The sweet spot for gaming graphics cards is about $200-$300. An Xbox is $350, a Plastation 3 is $480, and a Wii is $270 (if you can find one).
It's none of your god damn business which ones I see. Douchebags like you prevent your more ethical colleagues from getting through to people, because we just block or ignore all ads.
The thing is, we don't actually *want* flying cars. Ground transport is sufficient for most situations, and it's far more economical to cluster together long range transport.
I could look it up if I needed to, but it doesn't really come up.
I'll go with whoever makes me the best offer. If you can't afford me, that's fine, but don't bitch about it.
I've never actually seen a Gen Xer in a position of power. The world seems to prefer to leap over you if at all possible. I guess flannel, suicide rock and meth addictions aren't actually valuable live skills.
No one is forcing you to use the apps, or facebook at all for that matter. Personally, I just don't put anything in facebook that I'd be upset about being public.
That said, it would be nice if they had granular control over what is released to apps, like they do for every other aspect of the site.
I have absolutely no problem with jokes about nasal sex or people acting like dirty hippies. I wish everyone agreed with me on that, but they don't.
If Stallman wants to push society towards being more accepting, that's awesome. I applaud him. He can't do that *and* be a spokesperson for free software without tying the two in the minds of intolerant people. The simple fact of the matter is that we need to win over some of those small minded people to have a successful free software movement. I wish that wasn't the case, but it is.
I wish he'd step away from the FSF, advocate his ideals separately, and let respectable (to the small minded) people like Eben Moglen represent the movement.
Most people will come across something about nasal sex, or see a picture of him, and then ignore anything he has to say. It's unfortunate, it's not fair, but that's the way the world works. Part of being a grown up is accepting that.
But other people do, and they'll judge me by association. I don't appreciate that.
I can't change the perceptions of every moron in the world, but Stallman could grow the fuck up and act like a reasonable spokesperson, or step aside for someone who would.
Canada has supplied most of the oil the US uses for as long as I can remember.
But Bluray drives dropped in price by almost half when HDDVD kicked it. They were about $250-$300 then, and are about $150 now.

There's no real way to opt out of WGA, and IIRC they did something along these lines with IE 7.
If it works with SuSe, I'm sure it will work with any other flavour.
Besides, if you're anything but a pure MS shop, you're not going to be using windows as the host OS anyway.
Where are the EMP guns? Hell, where are the guns, period?
There's no reason people have to be particularly close to the action, so take the gloves off.

You'll need to include the $1500 TV you'll need for console gaming to be fair.
Since you obviously use your computer for things other than gaming, it's called a sunk cost. You'd buy those bits whether you were gaming or not.

Is basically Java on the desktop done right.
Ask your current employees to mine their contacts. Don't be cheap about it, you should be offering a 4 figure finders fee to them.

We've had them for a long time, too.

As long as Comcast et al keep up with their regular "contributions" to the FCC, they'll just look the other way.
They buy fire insurance before they start moving desks and taking people's staplers.
Who works in the same job for 20 years can't really be worth much.

If they want us, they can bring us in as civilian contractors. Why would anyone want to take a low paying job they can't quit?
That he was having difficulty operating it.
Is that telemarketers outside its jurisdiction have no obligation to honour it, but they can access it and use it to seed their auto dialers.
Why not simply require telcos to ask their customers whether or not they want to be on an opt in list when setting up a new account?
