Some of it has to do with charging infrastructure and in the rare times you need long distance, the charge times. I'm sure things will get significantly better the more EVs we get on the road. Where I live I don't really have an easy power source for the car, but it might be worth it to have one installed. All considerations.
I would love to own a tesla, but it's quite a bit more then my Civic. My next car I definitely want to at least be a hybrid but I'm going to have my civic at least couple more years. Maybe in a couple of years I'll want to weight an all electric for myself and keep the wife on gasoline or vise versa. She's a great candidate for no maintenance cars.
Heck, I may just push her toward EV and keep my civic for long drives where we don't plan to spend the night (we are driving to Colorado from San Diego with no stops next spring, for example) during the trip there and back.

I figure as a middle of the roader I could snag enough moderates from both parties to overcome Hunter.
Even with indictment, Hunter still won 54% of the vote. I'd of had to take 20% from both Dems and Repubs. Maybe possible for the right Libertarian minded person.

Southern California is hands down the best place to live with regards to weather. You can hate the homeless problems, the immigrant problems (plus and minus here) the cost of housing (own a condo, i'm fine but can't ever move) and a myrad of other things but the weather is great. I can also get to beaches, mountains, and desert in an under two hours.

Even as a gun supporter and owner, it does not really bother me we can't own fully automatic weapons or tanks or bombs. It's all in perceived value. I would never spend $40k on a car vs $20k on a car. The $40k car is never going to offer double the value of the $20k car for me. I suppose maybe if the $40k did all the driving while the $20k couldn't, then it would have real value.
Apple is the same thing. I can build my own computer for $1k (I've never spent that much on a system, EVER, by the way) or I could go buy from Apple and spend closer to $2k.
Regarding phone technology, I kind of laugh. It wasn't so long ago that Apple added wireless charging to their phone. I've had wireless charging on my last three phones and would never consider buying a phone that didn't have the functionality.
Very few premium products are worth the offer compared to a mid level option that's done just as well. Premium products are more social signaling.
