More like a punish the poor and middle class tax really. Fuel taxes hurt the poorest of us the most. Had he only passed a tax that went after people making over 100k Euros and I'm sure you would hear almost nothing about it. Certainly not rioting.
Some of it has to do with charging infrastructure and in the rare times you need long distance, the charge times. I'm sure things will get significantly better the more EVs we get on the road. Where I live I don't really have an easy power source for the car, but it might be worth it to have one installed. All considerations.
I would love to own a tesla, but it's quite a bit more then my Civic. My next car I definitely want to at least be a hybrid but I'm going to have my civic at least couple more years. Maybe in a couple of years I'll want to weight an all electric for myself and keep the wife on gasoline or vise versa. She's a great candidate for no maintenance cars.
Heck, I may just push her toward EV and keep my civic for long drives where we don't plan to spend the night (we are driving to Colorado from San Diego with no stops next spring, for example) during the trip there and back.
You would think that, but you still can't find a house in San Diego county for under 500k. Don't want traffic? Expect to pay damn anywhere from 800k - god knows how high.
I'm thankful to own my condo and bought at the best possible time, but it is quite frustrating to know that I would need around $1,800 more a month of net income to get into a house.
Sure, I could sell my place and make $100k, but that only saves me $500 a month. This doesn't even account for the fact that maintaining, let alone improving, a house cost more then a condo. My utilities would probably double. My property taxes would probably triple. The homeowner insurance would also go up, though probably not anywhere near as bad as the other things.
All and all I would likely need another $2,000 a month to maintain my current lifestyle and move into a house. That's about 30k (24k + 6k taxes).
So are you saying you are just as much at fault for Trump as Trump is? I mean, you haven't assassinated him for the greater good yet, so clearly you must be okay with his bullshit.
At least I'll admit some of the policies have been OKAY. That's all I could say about Obama as well.
Just like the presidential race, I didn't vote for my last Congress Rep (duncan hunter (criminal) or really liberal progressive. Trump or Hillary. I see no choices.
If I was better educated and had some kind of credible experience I might consider trying to run as a Libertarian in 2020 for Congress critter as that party hasn't field a candidate in the last couple of elections. I figure as a middle of the roader I could snag enough moderates from both parties to overcome Hunter.
Even with indictment, Hunter still won 54% of the vote. I'd of had to take 20% from both Dems and Repubs. Maybe possible for the right Libertarian minded person.
Piss off with all that crap. Want to stop people from wanting to come here? Then mandatory e-verify and mandatory prison sentences to corporation leaders for hiring illegals in the first place. That would have a chilling effect.
Next, no more citizenship upon being born here. Legal parents can take their kid to become a citizen at the social security office where you get your SS card in the first place. Citizenship because you were born here is bullshit. Rewarding people for having a child on a travel visa or because they got to the border is a HUGE incentive for people to ignore our laws.
We could also refuse medical service for non-citizens but we won't.
Of course, none of that will ever happen. There is no political will to implement either of those ideas.
We could also put the corporate tax rate back to where it was in the 50s, that is, over 50% as opposed to the 20 something percent the pay now.
Just remember, the world runs this way because that is how the top.001% want the world to run.
It's like saying you are a Liberal but voting Democrat. Being liberal does not make you a democrat. Being conservative does not make you a Republican.
Sure, many liberals will vote Democrat and many conservatives will vote Republican, but those terms aren't interchangeable.
Many old school blue dog Democrats are nothing like their socialist/communist nuts. Just like the nazi element is nothing like the fiscal conservative, small government type libertarian.
If we didn't have a first past the post voting system and winner take all, I'm sure we would see less broadly defined parties. This is especially true for the middle of the road people that still join a D or R for primary purposes but really only agree with half or less of what the party stands for.
It's why Bernie Sanders and Ron Paul both had to join "mainstream" parties to get a real chance, otherwise they would just split the ticket. Ross Perot did this in the 90s when he ran against Clinton and Dole. Clinton won what a typical democrat candidate would win but all the rest of the votes nearly divided equally between Perot and Dole.
This is the same kind of crap that some morning radio show hosts will do. They will start about how great a product is and how it has just made the world of difference in their life and you should definitely check it out because I'm just so entertaining I must be right!!!
I use to need to upgrade more often, but now that all the games I play are "old", I don't have much of a reason to upgrade. My biggest problem is going to be windows 7 eol but by then (maybe even today) all the games I play will run on Linux either natively or via wine so even that won't be a deal breaker.
Unless you are doing something massive, you don't need to spend more then $600 on a computer (not counting monitor, mouse, keyboard or speakers/printer).
As long as nothing burns out, I'm set for another couple of years. May have to replace the power supply but I've already upgraded the video card, ram and storage in the past two-three years and have essentially hit my mobos upgrade capacity.
The article really did not say how much evidence they had on her being the driver. If all they have is evidence tampering it won't really get them far or anywhere at all. As said above, how can you prove she did this to avoid this if you don't have any evidence she even was there?
They may very well have additional evidence not mentioned that has her in the car as the driver. Then she's screwed.
So far it doesn't sound like they have enough to really pin anything on her.
It's hard to understand how precisely US tech giants can sign up while we have the US Constitution. Our government should definitely not sign any form of speech control as it is against the Constitution.
We have laws for inciting violence. We even have hate laws to stack on crimes where race was a motivating factor, but that is not the same as speech laws.
It's pretty useless to have a Constitution that says we get freedom of speech within our boarders, but allow private US business to turn around and censor us because they control all the forms of communication.
How convenient for the government. Censorship without looking like the bad guys.
Did you miss the elections? We are already pendulum-ing back the other way. It's what we do here. I really hope the Democrats win the POTUS next round while keeping the House but not gaining the Senate.
Both sides need to be perceived as winning often enough that we don't fall into a civil war. You don't want one party gaining and keeping a super majority for more then two years. Really not even the two years are acceptable but as long as it doesn't go beyond four.
In this day and age, we are so polarized that for one party to win to many times in a row will likely cause a civil war. That's bad for everyone regardless of your strip.
Hence, we aren't going to be the next Reich. That doesn't mean we won't nuke someone or they nuke us. Humanity will definitely nuke itself out of existence. It's not IF, but WHEN.
Ca let's motorcycles split, so what's the problem? I did see some Arizona guy rage at a motorcycle once when he did this. I think the dumbass in the truck thought he was in a race with the motorcycle and how dare that motorcycle move to the front and take off when the light turn green? How dare they!!!
I do think motorcyclist are crazy as people just don't pay enough attention. Same idea as really riding a bicycle. Motor vehicle drivers are really generally bad and don't pay attention.
But you can't go outside half the year. Enjoy your "freedom" locked away in your huge house. I would NEVER live in Ohio or Colorado or Montana or the South (yuck never again) or the NE. I have vacationed in all of these places and lived in the South (love stuff about it, but not the weather, it's green though). They are great to visit. Tempting to move to but no thanks.
Southern California is hands down the best place to live with regards to weather. You can hate the homeless problems, the immigrant problems (plus and minus here) the cost of housing (own a condo, i'm fine but can't ever move) and a myrad of other things but the weather is great. I can also get to beaches, mountains, and desert in an under two hours.
P.S. You are on the Internet, you have no more privacy. If you pay bills, order stuff online or any of the other random things people do online, everyone knows. Even as a gun supporter and owner, it does not really bother me we can't own fully automatic weapons or tanks or bombs. The clever people can modify and make stuff if society collapses and we have need.
We know it really is not that hard to modify an AR-15 to fully auto.
It's all in perceived value. I would never spend $40k on a car vs $20k on a car. The $40k car is never going to offer double the value of the $20k car for me. I suppose maybe if the $40k did all the driving while the $20k couldn't, then it would have real value.
Apple is the same thing. I can build my own computer for $1k (I've never spent that much on a system, EVER, by the way) or I could go buy from Apple and spend closer to $2k.
Regarding phone technology, I kind of laugh. It wasn't so long ago that Apple added wireless charging to their phone. I've had wireless charging on my last three phones and would never consider buying a phone that didn't have the functionality.
Very few premium products are worth the offer compared to a mid level option that's done just as well. Premium products are more social signaling.
More like a punish the poor and middle class tax really. Fuel taxes hurt the poorest of us the most. Had he only passed a tax that went after people making over 100k Euros and I'm sure you would hear almost nothing about it. Certainly not rioting.
Well given the choice between the two countries, I'm sure glad I was born in America. Problems and all.
Well of course every hot chick is a potential security threat...

I'll just get right on that. Right.
I thought both Mission to Mars and The Red Planet were both pretty enjoyable movies to watch.
Avatar was also fun to watch.
Freedom of speech is not a meaningful cause?
So are you saying you are just as much at fault for Trump as Trump is? I mean, you haven't assassinated him for the greater good yet, so clearly you must be okay with his bullshit.

I really wish I had saved a mod point for this comment. Spot on.
Oh, I don't know about that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?...
Pope, you don't really understand the difference between "exactly the same" verses "almost the same"? I think you are just trolling.
Then explsin why underdeveloped societies have longer life expectancies.
Stop right there. What 2nd or 3rd world country are you talking about that has longer life expediencies then developed societies?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...
Japan is an underdeveloped country?

How are they being punished for screwing the public though? They aren't. I would say that makes them corrupt smart people.
If I hadn't already commented I'd mod you up. Free-range. You Sir, win the Internetz.

I was just thinking the same thing. Depressingly true.
