obviously a microsoft owned news source is going to diss linux... especially considering the trouble that ms has faced over the years with the valid competition that linux has provided...
can you say conspiracy? - look at it this way, msnbc is in my opinion a business persons news source - its watchers are the ones who actually know about the relevance that linux plays in the IT world. Saying stuff like linux is dead is a good way to get its watchers to start to think believe that, thus securing ms as the stable business oriented os in their so easily manipulated minds....
i think this is a good idea because a lot of kids cannot afford computers with high speed connections, especially those with hardware to play current games.
this is good for them because they would be supervised and it would show students that school is about more then just learning.
its good to see how far mozilla has come. ive been using it for a long time in linux, and now i am ready to make this switch on all my win computers as well.
my only complaint about that browser is that it doesnt support the ability to change the colour of the scroll bars found on certain webpages.
Wow! If windows releases it source i dont doubt that it will get leaked to the public... imagine that, windows could be in some serious trouble!
if the programming public has been able to support linux for all these years, why wouldnt they be able to do the same with windows?
imagine how cool that would be if there was 2 versions of windows... windows xp(or whatever) and open-windows (sounds cool too)...
this has potential to be a very interesting situation... ms could lose a lot of money if this happens
I have never really understodd this. Why do video games and dvd's only play in certain parts of the world? What is the rationelle behind this?
As far as I know, VHS can be played everywhere (pal/ntsc versions) and computer software isnt limited to specific regions, so why are DVDs and Video Games?
Anything else limited this way? I can understand that diffrent countries have diffrent ratings and what not, but the fact that digital formats can block usage in diffrent regions of the world seems like a backwards thing to be doing in this time of freedom and what not.
I was in computer science last year at university of guelph where I (and a bunch of other unrelated students) got busted using their code checking machine.
All programming assignments are handed in online where they are fed through a program that checks them for similarities. Basically if the code is similar the machine flags the program with the other program(s) that are the same and the instructors are informed.
When I was called to the deans office about this I was handed a hard copy of my program as well as that of the other student involved with everything similar printed in red text. Even though the code looked nothing the same (yes, they were copied however) the machine was able to pick up on it.
obviously the xbox and gamecube games are going to look better. the hardware running those machines is far superior to the ps2 - as was the ps2 over the dreamcast.
i still hope for a ps2 this christmas and so do all my friends.

true, however the gamecube has built in rumble!
what about nintendo's rumble pack? that allows users to feel vibrations when playing too!

isnt that where the term divx originally came from? pay per view dvds? terrible idea, hope it fails
80 bucks is fucking ridiculus!

I learned from my mistake.
when is this shit going to end? when will windows be a secure operating system?

dreamcast games DO NOT look better then PS2 games.
i think its funny that this machine runs on linux yet it boasts about being able to play windows media files...
