you're arguments don't hold. Cuba scores higher (or lower if you're talking about infant mortality rates - a key indicator) in overall health care, and that system is not "free market." btw, you're misleading yourself believing the US is a free market. It's not.

I think those are great comments, but the point is that war and violence are beneficial for the ruling class. So what is being done in Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. is good news for the ruling class. They are not attempting to stop violence, but rather, create more. Create more violence, sell more weapons ($$$), keep people scared (control), and so on...

as with any business, you can't analyze expenses and profit on just manufacturing and retail. it's much bigger than that. you have to remember that there are costs in the music industry that are "hidden". i.e. music videos, promotional materials/campaigns for retail, radio, tours and other bloated marketing schemes all factor into the price. the music industry is a huge marketing machine and somebody has to pay for it, primarily consumers and artists. keep that in mind when you buy you're next CD.

US & UK are currently bombing Iraq in no-fly zones which are not part of any UN agreement...btw how did Iraq get all those WMDs? from the US. so why aren't americans holding politicians accountable, some of them are currently in office (i.e. Cheney, Rumsfield (sp?))...

I've read the scond edition and i think it's the most important technical book i've ever read. [Disclaimer: All the work i do centers around databases.] I highly recommend it, in fact, buy it now. I had just begun working with RDBMS's at the time that i read it and it improved my understanding of the technology in general. From that i also learned a lot about proprierty features based on what i learned about the SQL standard(s). I still refer to it whenever i need to.

The great thing about the book is it has common sql problems and solutions which have helped me come up with some really creative and *simple* sql statements that have saved time (my own and the server's).

If you're boss thought you were worth the extra money, he would've gave you the raise. To me, it may be an indication that the other company is doing better financially. If you're making (50% increase) less then what you're worth - move.

Any dense object passing through the Earth is going to produce a single continuous signal from entry to exit."
