this is great news for the little computer elves that do all the calculations in my computer. They've been slaving away on their abicii for years, now i can buy them bicycles with nano-chains and stuff!
Also a lot of people are still running ME or 98. Booting takes up to 5-6 mins on some machines. That's why they are so interested in boot times.
I wasn't talking about Me or 98 though...i was talking about win2k. On any 9X type, you shouldn't be leaving it on, but Win2K is built to stay running...
Has anyone investigated the release of music under the GPL? I mean, a copyright should still be on the music so people can't rerelease stuff you've made and take credit for it. But could the GPL be used in any way to do this?
As a musician myself, i would never rip anything at less that 192...256 is preferable...at 128 you rip out the frequencies that give defenintion to hihats and crash cymbals...they sound like crap.
Floppies are fantastic! Just as long as you don't put any data on them...
They fly pretty well, and they have a bit of mass to them, so they can hurt people, plus, uh...they can...ummm...hold up the short leg of your couch?
at some point a group needs to get together and build a "stupid" linux
That's a good idea, but you seem to be repeating history here....windows was invented partly because people needed a "stupid" DOS.
If we were to try and create a stupid Linux, we would run into the same problems that Windoze has, we would need to include a lot of features that would take tons of code to implement...which brings us to errors in the code and then people (like myself) complain about these bugs all the time...so what we need isn't a "stupid" operating system, we just need to educate the users better.
Movies and TV tend to have a serious problem with being on the trailing edge of pop culture...has anybody heard of a show called Popstars? Here in Canada, the band they made is doing terribly and they are about to air the creation of another...
Stupid television...
You gotta love how that quote says that they're paying copyright holders and not Artists....stupid napster...you're about as cool as Fred Durst talking about rebellion and being the Pres of a record company.
I didn't know people were making movies about Common Gateway Interface....looks like it's time to get those perl skills up to snuff. I want on that bandwagon too!
Yeah, i have 512 right now...and most of the people i know have at least 512...most computers are coming standard with 256...and since people only trust current numbers X2, 512 should be coming up pretty soon as standard.
Not surprisingly this article fails to point out that although blank CD sales are higher than recorded CD sales, most of those CD's are being purchased by corporations. When i worked at Revenue Canada, we bought thousands of blank CD's for backups, and that was just one office. I would wager that most other companies are buying similar amounts for backing up data for users and themselves alike.
The real issue isn't cooling during the cold canadian winters, it's cooling during the blistering canadian summers( man it gets hot here).
You're best bet is to have some ceiling mounted A/c units for summer, and just open a window in the winter. if you have 2 windows in the room, then you're set.

In the last month, I've had to reboot twice, and that was booting when i got the lan party, and when i got back...
They're gonna use Xing?? then i'm not signing up...stupid crappy encoder...

400 pings?? holy crap...Around where I live (outskirts of hamilton) i rarely gets pings over 60 on my cable modem.

That was a Simpsons reference...
So that means there's only one thing left to say...
If you don't like it, go back to Russia!!!
What the crap is that all about? It makes me think that Real is trying to simply irritate you into paying 10 bucks for the player...what a scam.
Everything else just sucked ass.
No wonder record sales are down...too much airplay of too much crap=no sales.
That's okay...Japan is North America's beta testing ground...

Do the big names make the film? Nope, just look at Final Fantasy...that had some really big name voice talent....
