    Which wiping all data doesn't matter since everything is in the cloud. I work in IT for a school district and I powerwash and swap chromebooks for students all day long. They log in. BAM! everythings there. I have a couple of students who managed to install ubuntu and then steam on a chromebook. Playing steam games at 2-3 fps is fun.

    Canada - warning drivers about speed traps is great it gets everyone to slow down and avoids wrecks in high traffic areas. US - We'll sue you and everyone one associated with you to the point where you're homeless and on the streets.

    Longer than 20 years. Since Reagan, we were signing peace treaties while arming Afghanistan against the Russians. We were arming and training death squads in El Salvador starting in 1980, then we used the contra guerillas to attack the sandinistas. We've been sticking our nose where it doesn't belong for a long time. It's all about the $$$.

    No but the kids at the school I work at can sit in front of any OS and use it because they're used to android, ios, windows, chromeos. The OS they use 90% of the time is ChromeOS. So they are OS agnostic. So the OS doesn't really matter. Just show them how to get to a web browser.

    The average Joe isn't going to be installing an OS on a Raspberry PI. They're going to be buying a POS PC / laptop from wal-mart or best buy.

    I work at a school and on our secretaries computers we have to run IE 8, for some reason compatibility mode isn't good enough, there are government websites do not function properly at all in anything newer than 8. Then we also have to run java 6 and 7

    It's because chromebooks are dumb terminals. As bandwidth becomes ever more available we're going backwards. Nothing actually runs on the chromebook except a browser. Everything is in the "cloud".

    Our school district is 1 to 1 chromebooks for about 1200 students. We pay about $200 ea. Over a year we have about a 10% failure rate. But we're also an authorized warranty repair center. So we make money on repairs. Yes they run linux. You can either install ubuntu/fedora or run linux apps directly on them now.

    They're all the same fucking party. That's what alot of people don't understand. It's why 3rd parties aren't allowed to get anywhere when they run, because it would show off the hypocrisy of the "2 party" system. It got worse after Bill Clinton. He pushed the Democrats so far right they became Republicans.

    That's what we've got are full size ipads. I guess we'll have to figure out what to do. We can probably sell them and get new ones, maybe minis.

    Higher profit margin. The school that I work at has 200+ perfectly good ipads that just won't update past 10.3.3. They aren't that old and there's nothing wrong with them. Built in obsolescence. Now the apps we use won't work because they do a version check for 11+ So fuck apple, we're getting Android tablets, next round.

    Not NEED, WANT. At this point an iphone is a luxury device and it comes down to what people want. All someone needs in a cellphone is the ability to make phone calls, text people, get the date/time. Maybe a calendar app. Everything beyond that is luxury.

    My kid got his roblox account stolen. He wanted unlimited roblox so he found a website that promised him unlimited roblox. When he signed up he used the same user name and password he used for everything else he was 8 he didn't know any better. The people that stole it used to sell in game t-shirts or something like that. All I know is that after jumping through a ton of hoops he was in game rich when he got his account back.

  24. I've never ghosted a company. I did just up and quit a place where I was IT director and they wouldn't listen to me on how to do data conversion for a software transition. It ended up taking twice as long as it needed to be and they had people working insane hours for months to try and make up for it. So at 1am when I had been there since 5a. I just got up told the owner I quit went to my office grabbed my stuff and went home.

    If you give two weeks notice. Then these companies want to do an exit interview to figure out why you're leaving and make you feel guilty for leaving because you're not showing showing dedication to company and team spirit. Fuck them.
