    Today my girlfriend noticed that a image was still loading on one of her windows opened in the morning. I opened up network activity and too a look at the ad.
    Attempted to load for 8 hours 50 minutes.

    Try Omniweb I had no idea their were so many sites using pop-up/under's until I used IE for a few days.

    now I'm just going with what I heard (hell I thought the linux client was already out) was that you still had to buy the windows version then download the linux librarys for it to work.

    BeOS and OS/2 died because of a lack of software.
    And that is exactly what would happen to Mac OS X on x86. And M$ can make all their money because they already HAVE a monopoly on the OS market, apple would sink before it had enough time to ramp up volume enough to survive. They would be still born.

    Also, consumers can boycott the movie and music industries. It is our money they use to bribe Congressmen and Senators. Don't give them any.

    But that then gives them more ammo "look see! music and movie sales are down again! Those P2P networks MUST be to blame, not the fact we sell different stuff every year but expect profits to always go up! Or that it SUCKS!!"

    NWN was ready but Bioware didnt' want to do the editor so we have to wait on that. It should be out in under 2 months...

    If you want to think so... But the infiltration rate of OSX to dedicated Mac users hasn't been all that good according to Apple. They're saying they have only 1 million people using it.
    Someone didn't read the article, there are now 2.5million OS X users and apple is on track to hit 5million by the end of the year, just as planned...

    1) First wait for Macworld (and if rumors are true) a few more weeks for new PoweMacs.
    2) Think about what you want/need the system to do.
    3) I find they are quite less noisy then say Athelon based systems. 1 fan (power) vs 6 (my dad's tower we built last week).
    4) At least go dual, get as little RAM as you can from apple (same for HD if you desire more then base) and get it somewhere else. Remember once you have the mac you can replace virtually every part, yes even teh CPU.
    5) If you can find some dealer that offers say no tax it can come out to be cheaper, always shop around.
    6)Go for a GeForce 4 Ti with the dual head display, and you can get converters so you don't need to get new monitors.
    7) SMP: YES YES YES!!! I have a dual 450, and it makes all the difference in the world.
    8) As others have said IDE is fine unless your running a server or doing very heavy HD access stuff like pro video editing.

    I think your right that the target market does not care. These are the people who in a few years will just buy a whole new system, not just a new tower, or replace their slowest component (note this does not work well with the the new iMac's) when needed.

    Damn...well, I was going to say Windows and Office...how abut IE? PocketPC seems to finally have taken the edge over Palm...

    Nope, two totally different teams in two different states with two different code bases, MBU is in Mt View and I assume the Win IE team is in Redmond.

    That is exactly how it is, but all of these sites are pissed at not getting a free handout so they bitch and moan and are blowing this way out of proportion. They can still goto the expo they just have to buy their own pass.

    happens at every show apple historically announces products and the rumor sites are always way off (they have been promising G5's for almost 2 years now) and people still bitch even though if they thought about it for a second they would realize that it's not going to happen. And people do bitch like apple promised them all this crap. I'm not surprised they are revoking the FREE media pass to a bunch of rumor sites.

    yes they did. that auto recover feature that is supposed to save your work just as Word crashes, because like you said there is no incentive to fix that problem it doesn't sell.

    I watch video all the time in the corner of my screen (1600x1200), got IM below it and either a web page I am browsing or more likely my IDE.

    Mac OS X handles it all just fine. ^-^

    That is because all of those people feel they have ZERO other options. They have to use windows at work and are even more scared of other OSes because they assume all OSes are just like windows, buggy and a royal pain. Since they already Kinda know windows there is no incentive to try to learn something new, different, be it Linux or mac or anything, because they assume it to be just as bad as windows.
