The Kindle screen looks practically the same as a book page and you can adjust the size of the text. It also saves what page you are on for all books you are reading.
I prefer using the Kindle simply because it is easier and more convenient. I read my books on it and I also have an Economist subscription for it.
The relationship between humans and the various races of the Covenant is far from settled. The Arbiter doesn't speak for all the Elites, let alone the Brutes, Jackals, etc.
As someone who very, very much enjoyed the Halo games and reads the books I am looking forward to the new games.
After 10 years or so of evangelical promotion of web browsers in some quarters - Firefox advocates can be almost as mental as Apple fans - it seems that we have ground to a halt in terms of advances but no-one is willing to admit it.
The Firefox and Chrome lot have put so much effort and capital into their brands that they can't stop farting new versions out any more. They have plateaued like MS Office did in 2000.
Pretty much. Prior to the release of Cata there was a lot of noise made by the old crowd who said that the heroic dungeons should be hard and challenging and that crowd-control should be made compulsory again. Blizzard listened, obeyed and did just that... until the numbers rolled in and it turned out that catering to the whims of such a small, vocal crowd wasn't such a good idea after all.
It turned out that players simply stopped doing the dungeons when they realised how tricky and time-consuming they were in a PUG.
You weren't merely expressing an opinion though. In every thread about Guitar Hero there are the usual dullards who come in and make the predictable "Guitar Hero isn't anything like playing a real guitar, it takes no skill".
We get it, learning to play a real guitar is harder than playing Guitar Hero. No-one cares.
I disagree. The level of difficulty is high enough: you have to make a specific effort to click reply-all instead of reply.
That 'specific effort' is exactly the same as hitting the reply button.
If people are too lazy or stupid to put a few seconds' thought into it, that is their fault, not the UI's fault.
*sigh* Yes, of course, anyone who makes a simple mistake like hitting the almost-the-same-button-as-they-meant-to-press-that-is-right-next-to-it is obviously stupid or lazy. It couldn't possibly be that they just made a mistake and so they have to be punished a la Darth 'You have failed me for the last time' Vader.
After a while they just become samey and it's like arguing over which word processor is best - the one that loads 13% faster or the one that runs spellchecker 8% faster.
It's called Hostage syndrome, especially apropos considering that Apple holds your data hostage. Further, you can see plenty of examples of people regretting their Apple purchases and getting burned by owning apple products without even leaving Slashdot. Deliberately obtuse, or just retarded? Finally, when you make a purchasing decision there is a tendency to defend it so that you don't feel like an idiot. Admitting a bad purchase means admitting a bad decision.
I see now. If someone does feel harmed by Apple then it's proof of Apple being evil but if someone doesn't feel harmed by Apple it's because they are being held hostage and is proof of Apple being evil.
Are Hollywood writers so creatively bankrupt that they have to leach off of a great movie from the past. Why can't they just leave a sci-fi classic like Blade Runner alone ? Just come up with some new and interesting ideas for a change. Is that too much to ask ? I guess so.
Why is there always someone moaning about sequels whenever one is announced? Blade Runner is nearly 30 years old and no matter how this new film turns out will still be there in it's original form to watch.
Given that BR is based on a book anyway why do you think that it is some amazingly original piece of work in the first place?
Presumably they would just try and sue whoever they can. Chuck a couple of letters out to whoever lives there and see who caves or settles first.
If you are renting would the landlord be targetted?
They must be. They always did things like this, knocking a tank up out of a water pistol, some corrugated iron and a skateboard.
Stick to getting to your tits out please and leave the science to the ugly people.
Cheers.
You are so clever. We should call you 'bullet'.

And don't underestimate the Flood either...

CoD was good. CoD 2 was fantastic.
It's been downhill ever since.
Yes, because as everyone knows only one game can ever be released at a time.
You are pointlessly nitpicking.

To give pedants like you something to moan about.
Workable and realistic ideas, yes.
Yeah, all that sex must have worn you out and that is why you are here on Slashdot.

I own and operate a fairly famous restaurant
McDonalds?
On the other hand, PC market competition is FIERCE, because it's an open platform -- anyone can make PC hardware
Yes, we have a choice of AMD or Intel! And then a choice of Nvidia and, er, AMD again! Woo.
That's why the PC is blazing ahead of the consoles, and as long as we are in a reasonably free market, it will always stay ahead.
Blazing ahead in what sense exactly? Raw power? Sales? Popularity?

Apple conforms to #2 and #4. Steve Jobs conforms to #5.
Apple is Evil as per the dictionary. Thank you, please drive through.
Ask the millions of people who have bought Apple products in the last few years if they feel harmed in any way.
Can we drop this absurd use of the word 'evil' please?

When you can run 3D games, a word processor an external monitor and bluetooth keyboard off your cute little kindle get back to me.
Why would you need any of that if you are just into reading?
Now this I did not know. Thanks for the info.
