  2. This is why microsoft are insecure on Microsoft Announces Three More Critical Vulnerabilities · · Score: -1, Insightful

I ran windows update 12 hours ago, and there was nothing to update. I read this article, and then ran windows update, and there is now 5 critical updates (4 security, 1 bug). Who here is gullible enough to belive that microsoft has found these 4 security updates in lets say the past 24 hours? some 2600 member felt like burning some bridges with his old chums at microsoft so he sent them his exploit list? Not likely. This seems to me like they are sitting on security problems like they sit on feature upgrades to bundle them all together. This makes them look to the media in general as if they are the hero's making large security improvements when the truth is there is a metric fuckload of exploits out there for windows that all the ultra clued in people have thier hands on, and if any one of those exploits where to land in the hands of microsoft it would just put put in the next SRP (security rollup package) or on windowsupdate.com when it has a few more buddies to join it there

The only way microsoft ever release a security update in a timely fashion is when somebody releases a public proof of concept or something simmilar. Oh then they get pissed off, they have to act immediatly (try 24-28 hours later) to have a patch there. In the open source comunity, and a fair chunk of the closed source comunity if a security leak is pointed out to the vendor and not the public, a patch is released to the public in a timely fashion. Microsoft do themselves alot of damage because if they dont fix thier software before it goes public, all the crackers have thier exploits for a long ass time, and if somebody goes public with an exploit thats where the script kiddies step up to the plate, they have thier 1-2 days to use thier new toy untill something is done about it.

And why let one company have a monopoly on that anyway even if it was going ahead, yea sure the .cx and .tk TLD's have crap like that, but not for .com please
