Its a pity that a site gets slashdotted when ever its posted or talked about here but that also means the site gets that many number of hits and it wont hurt most of the time to get hits. There is also malice intended when a site goes down due to the slashdot effect.
On the contrary the last time where there were huge attacks against Yahoo, Ebay, Amazon...etc., the DOS attacks resulted in billions of dollars of loss of business to the victimised sites.
I dont want to start a Windows XP or M$ bashing argument but these operating systems are much more popular as desktop OSes and with the advent of cheaper broadband, these machines make perfect hosts to be used as machines to launch remote Denial of Service attacks.
I will not say the nix world is flawless but most of the people who use *nix know how to use it or learn quickly...can you say the same about an unsuspecting 9year child whos using WindowsXP (look ma there are nice colors).
DOS attack traceback and dealing with DOS attacks is a heavy research area./.ing a page is nothing compared to a DOS or DDOS(distributed DOS) attack.
I threw my WC2 CD and manual in the trash bin along with the 34AOL CDs - i kinda liked WC3 beta but thats about it - no more Blizzard no more Warcraft - a pity - M$ gotta watch out- i will be throwing their windows CDs too - no wait a min i dont have their CDs.

The time i took my telephone service (Verizon) the guy noted my name with a typo and i had my first bill with a typo - a month later wonder of wonders i had a Viagra and stimulate your sex drive envelope with the same typo in the name:O WTF - that was nothing - a few weeks later (im a male) i had a big cover for Ms.Atari2.6K with the same typo in the name - sigh. Now what?

How do we plan a trip to that planet? - Granted let send a Rover to find out what is what but what do we do about the RTT . There are so many what ifs and how dos in this area and finding an Earth like planet is worse than attempting to solve an NP complete problem...you dont know and i hope this dude is more closer to his find, than my brother whos playing golf on a small planet near Alpha Centauri.

I admit its quite frustrating and i have been playing the game on Easy mode now and all the weapons breaking down - it gets easier when u get the maintenance skills and find the disposable maintenance tools.
It gets easier when u learn and its one hell of a game and you gotta plan and decide every minute and when u shoot you better not miss.

Those games rank in my top 5 FPSes of all time not necessarily in that order. I have played Deus Ex quite a while back and i was impressed at the number of choices i had but as the article says i had three ways of dealing with a mission. The graphics werent the best i have seen and the system requirements are quite high.
On the other hand the other games dont demand the computing power DeuxEx asks of you.
You want to test AI? get yourself Halflife and DeusEx. You want to get scared while solving puzzles and using stealth? get yourself System Shock...RTCW well the name is enough. Thief makes me feel live out my fantasies...Im sure Sherlock Holmes would have loved it too.

I didnt have to wait for that post - i used to try to uninstall the BDE crap and then if it would refuse i would delete the entries manually and then take care of the Registry keys the best i could.
