How can this guy promote national ID cards over supermarket cards. I'd rather have a supermarket know I only buy Frosted Flakes on sale than a governement track EVERY facet of my life !
Governments and corps wont stop until they can wrench every last cent from customers by tracking their every move
He said the soldiers got the message and most of them went home.
How did they verify that they got the message or quantify the amount that did ?
Its rather funny hearing all these estimates, like, there are 2000 insurgents in Iraq and etc.. as if there is a way to even be 50% certain about that number.
They sure as hell werent taking a census in Fallujah
Whats up with the US dropping leaflets, food and etc before we bomb people. We our really polite at times before killing people.
I wonder why Richard Clarke keeps coming out with these stories, and what he has to gain by them.
Pyschological warfare via the internet has officially begun !
Using the flash everytime a shot is taken will greatly decrease the battery life. What about companies that sell disposable cameras, who'll pay for the extra battery on those ?
What about shots where a flash will ruin the picture ? This seems terribly stupid !
The poster implies Verizon created sinkholes by not filling the holes correctly, but if you read the article, its really just incompentent employees of Verizon who broke pipes:
Crotty discovered that contractors for Verizon had broken a sewer pipe. If they had an idea of where the pipes were, maybe they could dig around them and not burst them (Assuming they dont have plans)!
I suspect this will be happening alot more considering all the digging they will be doing.
Perhaps one day they can lay the fiber over the telephone lines (since everyone needs those) and avoid all the digging up (though there might be alot of interference).
I'm waiting for Linux to have a robust equivalent to COM. Believe it or not, MS Office has benefitted greatly from COM (Automation anyone).
The fact that a Powerpoint COM server can be hosted in MS Word to use powerpoint features is amazing IMHO and very cool.
Linux needs this !
My main gripe with Mozilla is that when you leave it alone for about 30 minutes or so and come back, it takes like 15-50 seconds to be active again, which is extremely annoying (loading it from virtual mem ?). They really need to fix that
Also, some pages like WashingtonPost.com have a problem where it is constantly reloading itself (perhaps a JS error).
If that happens then you'll see Zero-day cracks of the Pepsi-Nano-fabricator released on the galactical interweb, and the like. There will always be those who try to limit, and those who try to make things limitless.
You guys must be onc crack rock:
Matrix 2 was an awesome movie; Matrix 3 sucked ass
Lost in Translation was good movie
Timeline was underrated but ok movie
Pirates of Carribean was a great movie, totally made by Johnny Depp
They need to implement older protocols like Gnutella's and Fasttracks. It would be interesting to see if there simulator comes close to real world performance of these networks after that !
Yay, we have networks simulating networks. Kazaa Reloaded !
This is as natural as evolution. The spammers remind me of roaches. You can try to engineer them out of existance but life always finds a way. I dont hate them, but I do find this phenomenon curiously interesting with its parallels to life
This reminds me of one of my favorite books, 'A Brave New World'. Program the kids while they are young and by the time they are adolescents they may think copying music (not stealing:-) is as bad as physically stealing from a store. I wonder if someday some kid will be like "Copying music is worst than stealing cars"
Why pirates are bad
on
Pirate Hunter
·
· Score: 2, Interesting
Pirates have always been considered bad in the strictest sense. They are those that take property of others. What Disney et al have done is romantize the Pirate for movies and the like to sell a product. They glamorize it, make it look cool, fun, exciting, and package it like anything else. All we have here is the new commercialization of something old which was bad now made to seem cool We've all seen that happen before . Think about it:-)
Umm, did you guys or/. authors even read the article, they didnt say they'd really challenge it tooth and claw, they just refused the current subpoenas. I quote:
"MIT and Boston College yesterday said that they support the rights of copyright holders and would comply with any subpoena that addressed their concerns about the proper notification of students and was filed ''properly'' in US District Court in Massachusetts, not in Washington D.C."
From the article: "The ability to place CNTs directly on a substrate while controlling their spacing, size, and length, provides a high quality image with optimized electron emissions, brightness, color purity and resolution for flat panel displays. Other attempts in this field utilize a "paste" or "print" method of applying CNTs, which to date, have not been able to provide the same level of display image quality, or the potential cost savings of Motorola's NED process."
This brings up some interesting ideas !
What happens when the technology for laying the nanotubes onto substrates becomes so good that we are able to build car frames or house frames from it(think 3D substrates of nanotubes) ? How about another question , how easy is it for one to recycle this crap. We already have problems with millions of old junk PC's and monitors, what happens when you have near indestructable nanotube structures ?
How the hell was Spiderman or Xmen a good movie ? Taco must be on crack. If special effects and comics make a good movie then its a sad world we live in. Spiderman was so predictable and poorly acted I almost walked out of the theatre. Since when did comic book themed movies just get a free ride to not have a story ! I say, if the target audience is kids (7-18) then yes, maybe Spiderman was great for them but for any adult it was pure garbage. Why is it so hard for a movie with an already built in base audience and etc to come up with something resembling a slightly intrigueing plot . And I'm not even talking about something close to 'Apocolyse Now' or 'Usual Suspects', but just something to whet your appetite
I wonder when people will start doing something about this :

By flash everyone, I meant take off their clothes !
Wow, For a second, I thought the title meant ppl in the UK wanted everyone to flash everyone for a phone

So the RIAA will just get a 'proper' subpoena.
