This happened to a friend of mines company... This guy *installed* pirate software himself on alot of the machines in the office, when he got fired he called the BSA and reported the software *he* had installed. BSA blackmailed the company for 150,000$, they went bankrupt 6 mos later... (they were headed for bankrupcy regardless, but the BSA signed their death warrant).
Im not sure if this is an april fools joke or not... I would guess not because unlike the other jokes, this one is liabel. So assuming it is not, the quote "...We're trying to create a secure network based on end-user relationships."
Sneaking software onto peoples computers to create a good relationship with users ?... or did they mean a good relationship with b3d's clients?

I used to be involved with these guys when they were called "Enoch"... I was working on some automatic compiler optimization thing (which I never got working straight)...
Anyways, one day the boss decided to change the name, and we had a meeting... and the patron saint of linux is obviosuly the penguin... So I found some sites about penguins that said that the "Gentoo" penguin was the fastest and best swimmer... and it stuck;)
Actually Im paying for them to host a mail domain... its actually a pretty good deal, you point your dns record at them, and they run a smtp server that delivers mail to your *yahoo mail* account. It costs them nothing, I pay them something, its a good deal for both of us:) Or was... I think because I already had my domain registered it was only 20$ a year for 5 accounts.
I tell ya what I would pay a for, the ability to remove the stupid yahoo advertisements from the bottom of my emails (you can pay another 20$ a year to do this via pop3 but it dosen't effect your webmail).
You kinda missed the point... Do I want pre-installed linux? no... but would I like to buy on oem box and install my own os? maybe... can I? no! *all* oem boxes have windows on them, so I end up paying for windows wether I want it or not...
Here's the other thing, a linux box would prolly be 50$ cheaper then a windows box because of the MS licensc, ms dosen't want people buying a *cheaper* linux box and then putting a pirate windows on it!
in addition to eating up power cooling the device (which someone else already mentioned), energy would be needed to counteract the friction of the spinning plate -- it woudln't spin indefinatley at 5000rpm
wrong, because the perpetual motion machine would include the super-cooled disc spinning at 5000 rpm... it probably takes alot more energy to spin the disk them you would get back from your wheel:)
Good cables are *absolutley* necessary in things like, studios:) To a consumer, as long as the impedance is close to what it should be, and theres no shorts a cable is a cable.
Verizon started advertising DSL in my area by sending out flyers about *1 year* before it was avaliable. We got several flyers, and when you called to ordrer, they would take your name and tell you basically to sit tight and it would be here soon... meanwhile they'd keep mailing you flyers telling you to order
I can one up ya, we used to have this pursian cat, and it drank out of the toilets when it wanted water... in our house by the bathroom door there was a sewing table. So one day Im walking down the hall and the bathroom door is closed... The cat is standing on the sewing table pawing the door knob in what looked like a twisting motion.
Im not sure the cat knew to twist the knob (it couldn't if it wanted to), but I think she had picked up that humans *used* the door knob in some capacity to open the door.
End of story: I opened the door for her and she drank at the toilet.
Seriously, compgeeks.com has 5$ keyboards (they're lighteweight but very useable, I actually like the action).
If you dont wanna do that... I usually pop the keys off with a screwdriver and soak them in vinegar or windex. Then you can clean the housing with rag+windex...
great advice, however, Id like to add that in addition to flourescent lights flickering -- the power transformers in flourescent lights (rectifier? I can't recall the name) produce an EM field that oscilates at the same frequency. This field can make a monitor very *unuseable* if its near enough to the field.
this is actually the new method of invention... Every few years, the government invents a new and better kind of network, we take it over, they get pissed and decide to make an even better one where the whole process starts over again. progress!
No, I think this is still scary. They launched an investigation because *someone sent an email that locked up their server*. Not flooded the server, not spammed... just sent an email.
They should be investigating the marklars at lotus who apparently are not great programmers. No email should *ever* be able to bring down an e-mail server.
Ehh its only somewhat fair. I *already* pay yahoo to host a mail domain for me (its cheap and it works damn well), I read my email online, and *back it up* with pop3. Webmail is useless unless you can archive it So I will have the privlidge of *already paying for yahoo mail*, seeing their adverts when I read my mail, and paying to download my mail.
The US has the lowest prices for food anywhere in the world. We also have *very* good prices on gas compared to most other places... However we take it up the butt on housing... so I guess its all relative.
they range in size from 75gb to 436 gb, I work for an EDU so we get almost a 50% discount on them, but they are worth every penny... we've had the 200+gb model running for almost 3 years now with no problems at all.

Ok, say Im looking to recable my studio (and I am :), what *should* I be using ?

Tell me what qualities affect a cables fidelity? (seriously, Id like to know :)

If they miss just a male and a female rat, the new rats will breed and the offspring will be immune to GPS :=)
