I'm a bit of a news junky, but bouncing around checking all the different news sites whenever something happens is just to time consuming
Even more fun is when you're trying to remember that article you read last week, but is now lost in the oblivion that is anything not on the front page of the news site
so i threw together a little site that dumps all my favorite sites newsfeeds into a database where I can do whatever I want with it
though it's nowhere near as fully featured as I'd like, it does the job all it really needs is some filtering to prevent when it overwhelms you with so much news
nothing fancy but it keeps me sane =)

I do believe they invented glorious new shades of black for use in doom3
I really dont think they used any brown this time around, in fact I think I'd remember something that bright standing out.
so, are we just supposed to believe it's a coincedence that not only does saturn have the deathstar for a moon, now it has another moon that glows in the dark?
here's hoping my tinfoil hat blocks whatever evil alien radiation Titan's broadcasting
only problem is the stupid thing is too addicting, and I end up spending WAY too much time reading the hundreds upon hundreds of articles scrolling through it every day
It makes it easier to stay up to date on all your favorite sites, and includes searching and page caching (take that slashdot effect!)
another big plus is many many users can all use the same RSS feeds, yet only one request per hour has to be made
I'm planning on making it so you can create an account and pick the feeds you want, and after that greatly increase the number of feeds provided but real life and real work keep interupting
Anyways, I built it for myself originally, butit didn't take long before everyone at work had it bookmarked. So I figure if other people find it useful, I'd be glad to share! =)
<NES> lol <NES> I download something from Napster <NES> And the same guy I downloaded it from starts downloading it from me when I'm done <NES> I message him and say "What are you doing? I just got that from you" <NES> "getting my song back fucker"

i can't use a keyboard with out a windows key =\
i'm addicted to win-e to open explorer and win-r to open run, plus the ever useful win-d to minimize everything
plus it's really nice when you combine it with a program that lets you define hotkeys like my win-q to open explorer, win-i to open IE etc, never have to worry about conflicts with app hotkeys that way
but i'm just a keyboard junkie and hate using my mouse whenever possible
http://fooey.net/newsfeeds.cfm is my little personal newsfeeds and bookmarks site
the next thing I want to add is to store all of the newsfeeds in a DB along with fark
then i'll have a nice big searchable databse of news, and will be able to make it customizable for the few of us that use it regularly
and an email myg0t "recieved" that was sent internally at valve remember, valve was hacked using an outlook virus and gabe talked about them knowing people where in his email
IMHO the first real test for fx5900 vs the 9800 pro will Half-Life 2, and Valve is recommending the 9800 over the 5900
that's all I need to know
forget all the benchmarks and reviews
I want the card that's going to run my games the fastest
Hiya Gabe. I know that all of you's guys at Valve are really busy with HL2, but I was wondering if you could answer me a quick question?
I'm not sure if lots of people have asked this before or not, but I was wondering what graphics card you would personally recommend for HL2? I am torn between the two newest cards, the 9800 Pro and the FX 5900. So if you were me, which card would you go with, and if you want to elaborate on your answer that would be great!
Thanks.
Gabe - 9800 Pro. It's faster and has better image quality.
i'm still mad at dodge for not making certain that all their truck engines will fit in my pinto
i mean, it can't be THAT hard for them to do
and me and my other 2 buddies with pinto's would certainly be happy to buya new dodge truck if the engine would fit in my pinto so it's not like they won't make money off of it

I seem to vaguely remember a a rumor that they've looked into the possiblity of building an MMORPG.
Everyone wants those subscriptions coming in I guess.
having a garage full of italian sports cars can get even the geekiest among us laid
Any chance that EA is finally making that "The Sims: Burn in Hell" I know we've all been waiting for?

I've been building my own news aggregate too
same sort of idea, let the user see what they want, do some searching and browsing by category
i really want to do something like slashdot does and let you pick the channels that show up by default, but I just haven't gotten there yet
anyways, it's at http://fooey.net/NewsArchives/
only problem is the stupid thing is too addicting, and I end up spending WAY too much time reading the hundreds upon hundreds of articles scrolling through it every day
I've been working my own site completely based on consolidating all the newsfeeds popping up on the web and making it all so much more usable

as for that, how much longer can it be until we have nearly universal wifi coverage matching our current cell phone coverage?
i would hope we don't have to wait much longer before everyone can be connected all the time
i've thought for a while that we're going to go full circly and go back to running apps off a server instead of client side
just look at the direction IBM is going with building their web based office suite
just one patch and everyones updated on the fly
my newsfeed site saves me a ton of time every day
check it out here: http://fooey.net/Newsfeeds.cfm
just one big page with all the news sites I like where i can see at a glance anything new that pops up
i'm currently working on making it more database driven so I can search for those rouge articles you can never seem to find

they're actually exit popups that are launched by that blank popup, so if you close that one before you close the main window they don't launch
mozilla won't let you open windows off screen so you can't hide that one like you can in IE
...oh well, our "target market" are IE users anyways ;)
the popup system I build for our sites beats every popup blocker except Opera i've tested so far ;)

your only hope for that is if it's playable in wine, the AC games are both directx based
and i'd be betting that their other games coming up are also directx based since they're built on the Turbine Engine
reread it!
it specifically says techs are not allowed to recommend any solutions
reread it, it says that they cannot recommend any other solutions personally
