    How do you call these people NOW? Its not like adding to ability to record means there will be agents listening to every conversation every person ever makes. They would not be listening to your conversation unless they needed to, but VoIP does make it much easier to use encryption than standard POTS.

    They will just capture it the same way they capture existing IP traffic (carnavore). They just hand the ISP a packet capture box and ask them to install it.

    Good link describing basic functions of mach kernel and BSD layer here

    The mach kernel supports things like scheduler, RPC, virtual memory, multiprocessing support etc.

    The BSD layer provides TCP/IP stack, API, UNIX security model, file systems etc.

    What the article points out is that the file is not encrypted, so you can just edit the file with something else and replace the password with 0x00000000 (to remove it).

    At $300 to $400 it is in the same price range as the 2.4Ghz, 256meg, 40GB, DVD+CD-RW compaq I am writing this on. With micronPC selling white box systems for as low as $200, it's a shame I can't get a decent price on something as small as a shuttle.

    Not to mention that both the Evo and STi get better gas mileage than most of the cars they leave in the dust. The grandparent critiques high-RPM engines but the truth is they offer more horsepower with less weight and use less gas when "idle". Small high RPM and turbocharged engines are the future of the automotive industry. Not to mention that they also better compliment hybrid engine designs, which will be making huge inroads to mainstream over the next 4 years.

    Most Linux distros dump support after 2 years if they offer support at all and you want to bitch becasue MS won't support 7 year old OS on a p133. Get a life, you wouldn't even want or need support. You are just looking for another stupid reason to complain about MS.

    That is why mail servers should not be running on dynamic IPs. Web servers require a static IP address, why should mail servers be any different, especially when it could be the answer to spam.

    I think more ISP's should block dynamic IP's in the same manner as AOL or that people should start keeping a DNS record ofr SMTP servers to allow for authentication.

    I was out in the field on a military training exercise last year and I had this horrible head ache for 3 days. It was rainy cold, and I was miserable. I hate coffee but drank some only because I was soaking wet and freezing. About 2 minutes later my headache became nonexistent. It was then I realized that I consume way too much caffeine. I didn't have to quit drinking caffeine, just cut down. It was not difficult at all to drink it less often.
