But the DVD did for video what the CD did for audio, to a lesser degree though due to the forced licence watching and sometimes forced previews.
The best part is instant access to parts of the movie. FF and REW are infinitely better than a tape. HD-DVD, bluray are not adding anything new that the consumer wants. There not even thinking about the consumer one bit. Its almost funny. They will both fail miserably guaranteed.
Or better put, they won't beat the spread. Investors won't make anything on them...

I agree completely. I posted long ago about computer security that I think security can be measured in the difference in treatement of people who have authority vs. people who do not.
When you start treating them both closer to the same, you have actually diminished security. safety and liberty can not be traded as they are part of the same principle.
I measure drive quality by digging through my box of old computer parts and seeing which harddrive is the oldest. I do believe that is a Maxtor.
TBH its not really fair since harddrive companies have been so good at replacing failed drives. I don't remember which failed and which did not. How stupid are they to stop the 3 year warranties? Typically folks upgrade their drive before 3 years anyway. Perhaps they think their drives are too big to be upgraded within 3 years now?
I never bought a seagate, but I prefer Western Digital and Maxtor. I never like to see a small company buying a biger one. The bigger company better get on top of its game. If not, the managers from the smaller company will fire them all and take over their jobs. Of course neither company is failing so that wont happen to the greatest degree. I saw this happen with the company that made the voodoo graphics cards, and also Diamond Multimedia.

I think wikipedia is a perfect example of democracy and what happens within. The people that use the site must police the site. Or do you want to elect a governing body to determine what goes in and what does not go in? And who controls that body?
Wikipedia works perfectly. The only flaw I see is that they even bothered to remove that offensive article. That sets an unfortunate precedent for wiki. They should have left it, and let the community do the job they are charged with. Wiki must encourage/force/let the community to do its job.

I noticed years ago that many websites/stores were part of the same company. When building a computer you need several parts. When searching for them and you see the exact same prices listed on several websites for several different parts, plus shipping is the same it just becomes obvious. Then you look at how the URLs are formed and the style of the sites and you begin to see the common theme. Usually their hunger for profits drives them to even more similarities too. If the price/policy is good so what.
