    For me, real technology means something that is valuable for all humans, that evolves society.
    I'm having a hard time to see how DRM can do this.

    I think it's good to force people to use Linux.
    Then they will be so upset with things not working so they will start to get a life instead of sitting online 10h/day !
    That is really a good thing!

    If I were forced to switched to windows, I'd give up on computers....

    Wasn't the whole idea with the rrdram that it was supposed to be an "open" standard, and then rambus filed a patenet or something and the others were screwed.
    So much for a promise to make it freely available when working with a standard...
    When it's free, then we can believe it's free.

    as I can see it.

    The *DSL user that has bought a domain foo.bar that is hosted on a server, somewhere in the world (that doesn't allow mail relaying). And this user want to send mail that originates from the foo.bar domain.
    Ehhh.. that user is screwed by this.

    And patent? Well, that will be very good for making it a technique that every MTA will use.... releasing it as Public Domain? Remember Rambus?

    I was just about to write something about a laptop, never mind.
    Where is this taking us?
    The optimistic future is that the "content" industry can stop being afraid of all that P2P-mess, and they can start cutting the prices, since P2P is the reason for the high prices...

    The more realistic future is that they get an even firmer grip on the consumers and raise prices!

    Should I buy some DRM-free hardware today and save for future use? Well, AMD releases new hardware tomorrow....

    very bored with the "to protect against terrorism".
    How much freedom do we want to give up, to get a false sense of security?
    Now I don't say that RFID's in the food has anything to do with freedom, but where will they put the RFID next? (I've got a suggestion, but it will probably be considered obscene).
    As someone said once upon a time, "we gather this information about our customers, we don't know why, but it might be good in the future".
    That idea, and the believe that technology will save us (from all the bad in the world), that's just so utterly wrong!

    The only way to feel secure, is to be selfconfident and show more love, help those who suffer. Then you don't have to vorry about fanatic idiots and other problems (since these seems to muster from problems).

    By the way, the taste of coke is acctually very much like... oh, never mind.
