Why not then get an Amateur Radio License? You can operate from 160m to a couple cm. Yes, you still can't broadcast music or do one way transmission (with exceptions) but you can experiment until your heart is content.
I think the biggest problem with pirate stations is that they have no accountability for spectrum purity. As a ham or commercial entity you are required to have a clean signal. An overdriven pirate station may have harmonics on other frequencies that could effect police/fire or other services. That is the real danger and the reason the FCC should take action. The RIAA's revenue stream is not a good reason to shut pirates down. The other issue that comes to mind is if the pirate is causing interference to a commercial station. If no one in the area transmits on 88.5 then let the pirate do so, but the pirate needs to make sure that there is a buffer around their coverage area and any commercial station within x number of miles. Just because the pirate can't hear the other station does not mean that it's not there and they are causing interference.
I'm sure you're running Linux on that box. If not you need to factor in the cost of Windows and any other apps you need to make it an Apple to Apple comparison.
Sorry for the pun Argg..
Here in Connecticut a sub 2000 sq ft ranch will run you about $350K. And that's down about 50K from the past 12 months. Throw in daycare at 20K per year for a couple of kids, another 7K in property taxes and you have to clear 6K per month just to break even. We are not talking a car payment, food, heat in the winter or any toys. To live in southern Connecticut you DO need to make 80K just to survive. I'd hardly call 120K wealthy, barely middle class is a better term.
Hey AC, let me guess, your 20-25 years old, single (probably no gf) and spend all your non work time on your computer. Makes it even better if you live in the midwest
It's going to be a big shock when you grow up and start a family.
Not only that but Intel has drolpped the whole 'Intel Inside' marketing. So the grand parent poster is really a moron that has been duped by another moron spewing fud.
Been up for the last 20 hours getting ready/looking for Suitsat. Got 3 radios on 145.99, two verticles and a beam. Got two recorders on and two SSTV programs running looking for an image.
Hope the batteries warm up and we get something. Nothing hear on the last pass (10 min ago). But got some faint reception on earlier passes. It's not dead!
Hopefully will get something on the next overhead pass!
At Macworld Microsoft stated that they have signed an agreement to continue for at least 5 more years. So it doesn't sound like it is going to die any time soon.
What should be done is to approach him and offer him some kind of compensation for being stuck like a pin cushion. A lump sum? Maybe it was big enough. I'd hold out for a percentage of the action if the drug companies develop a cure.
Why should someone else profit from him and not give him a cut? If I were him I'd also immediately put in his will that he is to be cremated as soon as possible after death. On the more compasionate side I'd also consider being a lab rat for free if I was guaranteed that the drug was going to be given away for free. Fat chance at that hapening...
Funny that the OBDH (On-Board Data Handling System) Core for the ESEO is running Linux with 2.6.9 kernel. However all the decoding software I have found is all UI-View plugins for Windows. Is there (going to be) a Linux decoder out there? I can use Xastir to decode the AX.25 packets but I'd hate to hand decode the packets data.
You sir are an idiot! That kind of thinking is a major part of what is wrong in America. You are also probably one of those 'not in my backyard' types as well. I bet your views would be very different if the wonderful power company decided to run thier high voltage lines right across your property. Or your town decided to put a high security prision in your back yard. Then you would cry about how unfair it is and expect everyone to come to your aid.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I get the impression you are from the 'me' generation and damn anyone or anything that does not make your life better.
BTW hams may get on the air if the power goes down, but who is going to hear them if the people they are trying to contact can't hear them because their power is on and BPL is blocking them from receiving the distress calls. In addition why would hams continue to keep expensive radios and antennas if they can't use them.
Obviously the Dept of Homeland Security thinks it is important. I just got back from a meeting with the Police & Fire Cheifs from my town. They are funding me and a couple of the other hams in our town about $5000 for equipment and towers so we can provide emergency communications. The police dept has radio equipment that can contact the surrounding towns but nothing that can reach the state capitol. They do not rely on the Internet or cell phones as they have proven (9/11) to not to be robust enough.
The same activity is going on in all the surrounding local towns as well. Us hams have worked together to purchase similar equipment so operating in one EOC is not much different than another. We are not in some backwoods area either, we are in the second most expensive county in the US. These police and fire depts are outfitted with all the latest and greatest. But they still see a need for the hams to be there for backup.
I doubt it is an illegal amp. However any ham is licensed to run up to 1500W on any band (with a few exceptions such as around military radar installations, etc). With a yagi or some other directional antenna with gain the erp (effective radiated power) could be a couple of thousand watts!
Maybe because most of these stations do not publish their playlists. And even if they did you would have to have some kind of cross ref to a database to look up the length of the song, genre, etc. Then you need some way to beam the data to your car.
If radio stations were supportive of such an idea they could send the data on a subcarrier of the main freq, However your main intention is to skip their advertiser so why would they want to go to the expense of providing you with all this data?
But on OS X you can run LaTeX and Excel. The only thing that Windows has going for it is MS Office but since you can get it for OS X that argument is mute. If you want KDE or Gnome you can run it inside X11 on OSX. Many Linux apps will compile natively and you may not need X11 at all.
Actually in most states as soon as the felon has completed his incarceration and or (depending on state) parole their right to vote is automatically restored. Some states such as ME and VT let felons vote in jail.

Why can't we sell the Hubble to someone else? If it is so damn important why can't Canada, India or someone else offer to foot the bill or outright buy the Hubble from the US?
It is to my 80 year old Grandmother. I put a M$ wireless button mouse on her Mac figuring she would love not having the cord. Well accidentally right clicking all the time was reason enough for her to yell at me to give her back her one button mouse.
Reason enough!

Yup,
Looks like a perfect launch. Just saw the main fuel tank seperate. Godspeed astronauts!
I ordered a MacBook Pro 15" last week with the 1GB DIMM. Received it this morning and I'm using it right now. Took 8 days from order to delivery.
I'm surprised that everyone else is waiting.
Maybe too late for nightime viewing but not too late for Meteor Scatter. Anyone for a WSJT sched on the rocks?
Really?

And no, I'm not new around here...

Your kidding right? What about his rights?

Great movie! First thing I thought of as well as soon as I saw the title of the article.

If the MPAA decrypts the peer info are they not in violation of the DMCA? Boy wouldn't it be fun to sue them!
What about Kat http://www.catschwartz.com/. She was good to spank off to. Especially after her nudes surfaced on the 'net.
Answer one question, why were you keeping logs in the first place? No self respecting anarchist would have kept such incriminating evidence around.
If I ever run into you I'll give a swift kick in the balls, you dumb ass.
