That's not a dream. When this all comes to light, if SCO can't actually act on any of its myriad threats, the remaining shareholders will sue the company because it will be deader than disco.
Don't plug them into the internet or install bootleg content on them. The only virus to show up so far comes from leaving bluetooth connections open (which really nobody does). And unless your stereo is an open socket to the internet or you install some virus laden torrent files to your stereo you'll be just fine.
The James Web telescope is not a replacement for Hubble. They both don't have the same capabilities, lenses, or spectrum view. While JWT will be able to see further and fainter objects, it spectrum variety is smaller.
What we need are good royalty and free-use datasets that allow open source products to actually be able to do high resolution GIS queries. Without a large volume of free data, having an open source GIS system isn't enough.
Depends ENTIRELY on the state and the laws there. Some employment contracts are worded such that you are prohibited from leaving your employer and going somewhere else and working on the exact same type of system. Some states have laws that allow this type of 'tort', and others don't.
conveniently and for no reason early in the movie. Its like they decided that they were going to kill data and then needed to come up with a way to keep him alive. Then they realized how much they suck and came up with the script for Nemesis. Not that the rest of the movie *shudder* was any good.
Its also easy to keep using fossil fuels, is it the fault of the energy companies that make money off of fossil fuels that customers are too damn lazy to look for alternatives?
It doesn't force you to no. Bill Gates doesn't come into yuor house and put a gun to your head and make you use IE.
However what they do is integrate all of their products with the OS such that it becomes highly unlikely that you would exert any effort to replace those products. The Windows desktop/OS is just like viewing an ad that you see everytime your machine starts. You're more likely to use a product that you see all the time and the 'switching cost' just gets higher and higher for everyone else.
I know for certain that due to these moves, my employer is already looking to replace stock options with something else. For me that's almost okay because its somewhat useless for me to get the option to purchase something in the future while my employer gets an immediate write off. It would be nice to get actual stock, cash, or some other perk - but an option requires that I both wait AND spend money - not always a meaningful benefit by any stretch.
Indeed. It would be good for their ideas to not work many times on Enterprise. I mean this is the first ship of its time yet they are using the deflector shield as we weapon to take out moon sized space stations. Some of the earlier episodes were much more interesting as we could see how ill-equiped they were, especially when it came to combat.
Unlike others who think that Star Trek needs to go on 'vacation' I don't agree. There is little value to bringing Trek back 10 years from now if its going to be the same as it is today. Berman and Braga are a plague on the Trek franchise that needs to be removed. It is clear that they are too burned out on this franchise do anything useful. For goodness sakes, they have reduced the process of the founding of the Federation into a romp through time. Yeah, creating this massive Federation 'empire' is just too damn boring. I mean all the species, conflicts and technologies that would have to be created would just be too bland to watch.
The problem is with the writing, not the franchise. Its just not interesting anymore - and this latest travesty (Enterprise) is just adding insult to injury. Blue alien nazis? Someone get these clowns outta here:)
Political solutions are great, but we're clearly talking about a time when someone is firing a shaped charge at your head. Certainly the politics don't matter at this point and its time to make sure that people don't get killed.
ROI is never a factor when it comes to saving lives. That type of 'cost scenario' logic is what brought us the Ford Pinto tragedy.
True, but the ocurrence of that is currently pretty rare since most poeple never really encountered the URI exploit in the wild and almost no real application would require that functionality to be exposed to the user in that manner.
I think this fix is reasonable in that it won't be popping up all the time and when it finally does - it will look out of place and the default behavior should be to cancel (not allow) the operation to continue.
Strange considering that there are sooooo many Java server applications out there and more being written every day. Weblogic and Websphere aren't 'developer desk'-names for nothing. Java is far more suited to the server than it is on the desktop at this time.
Java is getting much better on the desktop (FINALLY), but it is most definitely at its best on the server.
Not feeling it....

The device seems to be priced beyond the PDA market so the average person using it would be expecting more functionality than it provides (i.e. laptop capability). But if a CEO really wanted a portable system do they really want a stripped down laptop that is still laptop size or do they want something like the Treo 600? Its smaller, its a phone, and it has the nice data connectivity options all for a fraction of the price.
Now perhaps people really DO want to carry around something this big, but it escapes me as to what they would really want to do with it. Devices in this smaller factor seem to be more suited to trimmed versions of large applications for viewing and light updating/editing of data as opposed to being full time PC replacements. I'll bet good money that by the time this device really hits mass production, there will be better smart phone style devices out there which will offer MUCh more utility while having their costs subsidized by cell phone companies and being overall more useful to the end user.
Where are you looking for them? All across the industry there are jobs like this. I have one and now many people who do - some who work less than I (as I have some on-call support responsibilities occasionally). My project team went from being pressured to push out software on a monthly basis 4 years ago to maturing to one where everything is planned out, there aren't lots of systems being written from scratch, etc. We spend a lot more time looking forward and searching for the next big thing to make the company money rather than trying to put out fires.

and I wanted to have kids :( This isn't fair... all that time wasted...

I'm more concerned with whether or not this will be as easily exploitable as Active Desktop which is its closes kin - not Konfabulator.
Nah, it is clear that all Romulan warships of the time used weapons that emitted BLINDEON particles.
hey found lying about....

My company pays for my cell phone, and my DSL line because they are required for work and they expect to be able to reach me via either at all times.
:)
If your company doesn't want any such assurance, then sure its okay. If your machine is swamped for porn torrents or whatever, too bad

I guess that's why they call it PHOTO-shop.

I'm not sure how you equate this with death. It just means that the wireless providers will rachet things up to provide faster speeds.

No. Even taken out of context they still suck....
