  1. Setting a precedent on Nokia Asks Court To Block RIM Products For Violating Patent Agreement · · Score: 1

RIM is a dying, easy to beat company... If they win, they set a precedent...

  2. Re:Consumers lose again. on Samsung Hits Apple With 20% Price Increase · · Score: 1

And I do... but this kind of nonsense inevitably affects the entire market... Apple raises prices and people still buy their products... Then other vendors raise their prices too... I know it's how our free market works... prices set at what the market is willing to pay... but it chips away at our power as the consumer (I hate that word by the way).

  3. Consumers lose again. on Samsung Hits Apple With 20% Price Increase · · Score: 1

And once again the consumer will pay for these bullshit patent wars... Samsung loses patent suit...charges Apple more to make up for the loss... Apple passes that cost off to consumers... Awesome....

Fuck off and die already... A shame too, I really used to like their hardware... Why oh why does patent trolling have to become the new business model for dying companies...

  5. Rights...where they begin and end... on Seattle Library Lets Man Watch Porn On Computers Despite Complaints · · Score: 0

I'm not one for censorship...but there is a societal difference between what is acceptable in public and private spaces... And while some believe we can't step on anyones rights... You have to have a line somewhere... Should there be a law?...no...we have too many of those already... Should the moron watching porn in public realize some people find that offensive? ... Yes and I wish that would happen more, but not likely... Contrary to popular belief you don't have the "right" to do whatever the fuck you want...you have to live with a bunch of other people on this rock and you have to realize not everybody believes or thinks the same as you...

Move to india...we don't do science here in 'merica...even if you do choose a career in it, you will spend your entire career trying to find a job that hasn't been outsourced and that pays enough to pay to at least the minimum on your ridiculous student loan balance... But I'm not a cynic....

  11. Re:One word reply to you ;-) on The Mini-ITX Linux PVR Project · · Score: 1

Yeah don't bother with knoppmyth...Its a horrible horrible OS setup (although it does install mythtv fairly well). I have never seen a more cluttered boot process. I was watching it boot and it must have gone through loading modules (the same ones) 3 or 4 times.. it takes forever to finally get to a usable state. Also, the guy who runs knoppmyth is an ass. I emailed him for help once (because his script told me too if I had problems) and he sent back a nasty email telling me not to email him and use the forums. Then when I questioned him as to why one of his scripts said to email if you run into problems, He told me that he doesn't answer email questions and if you don't like that answer then don't use my distro....A real ass... I know I'm just bitchin and whining but some people deserve to be called out. anyway I'm using kubuntu (dapper) and mythtv on my mini-itx pvr and it works pretty much out of the box... good luck its a fun waste of time anyway ;) -jason

  12. OSX on X86 on Desktop Linux on x86 - Adapt or Die · · Score: 1

I have been using Linux for ~7 years and I have to say, for some of the projects I work on (Multi-Media,Video capture/editing), I would switch to OSX in a heartbeat. But the 3 things that have kept me away from Apple in the past for the present and in the future are price, price an price. Even if Apple decided to let people install OSX on generic X86 machines (which they have stated they aren't going to do) I could not bring myself to pay for a OS and then every time they release an upgrade to the OS pay full price AGAIN!!.. Apple has always done this and probably always will and that is why they will always be second to Linux, IMHO anyway.
