Theaters are one thing, but last week at my cousin's funeral there were no less than THREE cell phones going off at full volume while the pastor was trying to speak. This seriously pissed me off, especially since two of these clueless dickwads actually took the call during the ceremony.
If people can't learn basic manners then I am all for blocking or jamming or taking their fucking phone and smashing it with a big rock. Whatever works.
I'm not asking for "miss manners" type behavior, just a tiny bit of common sense and respect would do just fine. Then people wouldn't have to resort to illegal jamming...
My point is that the concepts do exist at such a level that ANYONE could come up with it as soon as the need is there. The rock was sitting there the whole time, but it wasn't a tool until someone needed to hit something with it. The concept of telling somone how to pay for your service when they walk in your store is not new.
I am so sick of this crap. Why is it that when an obvious solution to an obvious problem presents itself, some ass munch somewhere thinks they own it? WTF is wrong with the world?
If you need to hit something hard and you see a rock, does that mean that from then on you own all hammers, clubs and any other heavy blunt objects that might be used to hit something with?
I am sick of it too.
But, then again I always use fake nfo.
It's like i tell people who complain about computer viruses and spyware, i say: "nobody can do anything to your computer that you dont give them permission to do." and it's true.
Dont give them permission to screw you.
Every single morning I go to work, make some tea and read slashdot. Then I check my email and maybe do some coding. Then I take a nap. Then I read my email again and check out some porn- all without leaving my house! Oh wait, I am unemployed, nevermind...
definition in Merriam-Webster:
Main Entry: slave
Pronunciation: 'slAv
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English sclave, from Old French or Medieval Latin; Old French esclave, from Medieval Latin sclavus, from Sclavus Slavic; from the frequent enslavement of Slavs in central Europe
Date: 14th century
1 : a person held in servitude as the chattel of another
2 : one that is completely subservient to a dominating influence
3 : a device (as the printer of a computer) that is directly responsive to another
This reminds me of a local sudent who objected to the word "lame" as refering to something... well, lame. He thought it was offensive to people with bad legs. Never mind the second and third definitions are:
2 : lacking needful or desirable substance
3 slang : not being in the know
Give me a freakin break. If it's in the dictionary then we have to agree on the meaning(s)- or what is the point of a dictionary?
between SF and Fantasy. "The Hulk" is Fantasy and should be taken in the same grain as cartoons or movies with magic, dragons etc. Real SF doesn't usually make it into move/television form (or if it does it ends up being corrupted). The best SF is still in books not in your movie theatre.
is all SCO cares about. If everyone on slashdot were to short as much SCO stock as they can afford, the price would go down. After they lose, it'll go down even more. Just a thought... Not sure if this would be legal or not so Im not actually suggesting anybody DO THIS. I also lost 10 grand in one day shorting stock, so Im not the best person to take investing tips from..
All I am saying is that $ are votes in this situation.. er most situations. er.. um...
I could take down 500,000 machines in a weekend. Just line em up and give me a strong electromagnet. Oh and a Jeep, I dont want to walk that far.
I think what the previous poster was saying is that the worm is the code equivalent of a sledge hammer- not very elegant but gets the job done. Just like 90% of the crap I whip out when my boss wants it "yesterday".
If everyone who claims to have a strong opinion on this matter would chip in $50 and some coding time we could set up an online music label that could make deals with musicians to sell rights to their music. The musicians could get $.25 for every song purchase ( a hell of a lot more than they get now) and the rest could go to maintaining and promoting the label. This wouldn't be that hard. 1000 talented programmers/webdesigners/database guys/sysadmins with $50 each could pull this off. If only we could find the person who could organize the whole shebang...
Yea right.

It took me three months to learn to subnet IP4 addresses in my head. The thought of relearning how to do it it in hex with (how many extra bits?)- gawd it makes my head spin... How much more complicated are routing protos going to be? Gawd.
By the way, where the hell is IP version 5?

Of course if you dont feel the same way, dont.. That (should) go without saying.
I agree. I would add that Intentia International should have the burden of proving that there wasnt a link anywhere on the internet to the report. This is just silly.. If you put things on a public webserver, its public.
