Their goals are ridiculous in free country. A country isn't free if it's government knows what everyone is doing all the time. Besides that, why weren't they asking for this information 10 or 20 years ago? People had connections in the past but the government never sought to know everyone's. The only result of all this total information awareness so far is to find out the CIA Director was having an affair. Billions of dollars could be better spent on infrastructure.
I'm starting to wonder what is motivating the law makers when they repeatedly come back with a worse proposal than what was just rejected. The whole notion of 'severe penalties reduce crime.' has been shown by history to be completely untrue. Severe penalties results in full prisons and just as much crime.
Better economic opportunities for the poor reduces crime. Full employment reduces crime. Providing people with the basic necessities of life when they cannot provide for themselves, reduces crime. In short, reducing need reduces crime. That is where our efforts should be made.
This isn't going to go well for Nokia. Already no one wants their products and Microsoft has already hinted they'll abandon Windows phone next year. Nokia is now a patent troll with no other business model. Well, it has a business model, but it's so broken it will never recover. Hiring that nitwit Elop. Elost!
This is a tool a government can now use to remove critical commentary on it's actions. This is like using a stick of dynamite to pop a pimple on your arm, you lose your arm.
Do we really need the government combing through everyone's financial data, identifying infidelities not affecting national security? Will they look for payments to household staff that could be illegal aliens? Nothing to stop them, so yes that will happen. Every aspect of every American's life will be meticulously analyzed and filed away. That doesn't make me feel safe at all!
If someone reports corruption in China, they go to jail for revealing state secrets. The 'People's Republic' my arse! It should be called 'The Ruling Elite's Republic of Oppression of the People of China'. That would be a far more accurate name than the patriotism they attempt to wrap their misdeeds in today.
When someone is respected for something in society their opinion carries more weight. People who have never knowingly met a gay person may be swayed by his opinion. Hate speech is repeated again and again continuing and spreading it like a cancer across society. Not only that but he is also wrong about the effects of gay marriage. We've had gay marriage in Canada for several years now and the effects have all been positive. Card is a bigoted, ignorant, self important asshole who deserves everything bad that happens to him.
Nuclear accidents are not supposed to be possible but they keep happening because people are fallible. Since it is impossible to guarantee someone won't screw up, it is impossible to build a safe nuclear reactor. There is no safety system so good that a determined idiot can't break it. If the possibility of accident cannot be made zero, nuclear technology is not safe.

How many good journalists do we have to lose to cancer before we stop asking people to watch Hollywood carcinogens?

Let's prove Lord of The Rings isn't an actual historical document.
So that should even selection bias
Shoot the other foot.
We've seen far too much blue software out of Microsoft. They couldn't come up with something catchy and relevant like Harakiri?
Test the different distros live disks to see which works best in your situation. Then install it.

Lots of models of sound canceling headphones so you won't hear what's going on outside.
So take a walk and look for a better place to work while you're at it!
OSX is a prison that keeps getting smaller. Linux on the desktop is wonderful. Stable and easily configurable .

This looks more like a plan to hose poor people.

And you've sentenced them to extinction by sushi?
