Why is helping the DoD evil? Is everyone supporting the DoD evil?
It all depends. If you're a Democrat and the president is a Republican, then yes. Likewise if you're a Republican and the president is a Democrat, then also yes. But it's alright so long as the president has the same political affiliation as you. So basically, the Googlers complaining about this probably wouldn't have any problem is Hillary was president right now.
but not Mexico would be hypocritical. Mexican citizens cast a significant number of votes in the election - illegally - which to me is a bigger deal than doing some advertising.
But how are you sure that such an edition will come out at all before the game's publisher shuts down the official multiplayer matchmaking server and asserts copyright against unofficial ones?
I don't usually play multiplayer because I don't have time, so that's not a concern for me.
If people were willing to pay $20-$80 for a game, then EA and Ubisoft would simply treat that as license to charge $20-$80 AND add lootboxes and season passes.
That's what they're already doing. That's why I usually wait for the GOTY edition to come out that already has all of the "seasons" (or expansion packs as they used to be known). I don't mind a free game that has pay-to-win options, but I hate games that charge you AND have pay-to-win options.
If we set aside the security considerations, I wonder if this offers a reasonable compromise. Until a car can be made fully autonomous, they could run on auto pilot until the computer encounters a problematic situation. For example, it approaches a construction zone on the highway. The car connects to a human driver in an op center that takes control, navigates the obstacle, then returns control to the computer. I wonder if this is what companies like Uber and Lyft are working toward?
You better have pretty low latency in these situations, because these can be the kind where every millisecond counts!
Recipe to get infinite amounts of cake:
Bake 1 cake.
Now divide it by the number of ppl available. 1 cake / N people
Now make no one want the cake. N = 0
1 cake / 0 people = +oo cake / people
Now you have a infinite amount of cake per people.
Go end world hunger with it...
The number of people who want the cake has no bearing on how much cake you have. If 0 people want your cake, you still have 1 cake. Just like having infinite people want your cake. Math says you'd have 0 pieces per person. The fact though is you have 8 pieces of cake, people 9-infinity are out of luck.;-)
When you read that 97% of Americans support background checks nobody realizes there's a lot of variations in what a "background check" entails...
If someone is too dangerous to own a gun, why are they allowed to roam the streets? If someone has served their sentence for committing a crime, shouldn't they have their rights restored to them after that?
I am however looking forward to space tourism, if for no other reason than sheer curiosity about how long flat-earth beliefs will persist after private individuals are able to go into orbit.
I think the vast majority of flat-earthers are trolls, and don't really believe that the earth is flat...
Would these be the same policymakers that have been pushing students to go into STEM for the last several years? Or the same policymakers that were telling all the laid off machinists, welders & tool and dye makers to study computer science? I had several of those students in my classes, and they struggled because really had no interest in studying computer science. Most of them hadn't been in school for over a decade. They were there so they could get their "No worker left behind" money. I remember running into one of my former students a couple of weeks after he graduated & asked him how his job search was going. He told me he got hired at a new welding job for $13 an hour. He seemed pretty content.
Apparently, all of this started out as a prank from 4Chan, and it was covered by a wide number of news outlets.
The news outlets will often do retractions (as in the case of Time), but those are almost never publicized as widely as the original stories, and the damage is done. I understand that mistakes happen, but how many people are still under the impression that Cruz was a member of the ROF? If anything, retractions should be more publicized than the original stories.
You are complaining about spreading misinformation yet spread misinformation. Democrats commissioned the dossier. Stop spreading misinformation.
Actually, AC isn't completely wrong. Bush allegedly initially hired Steele to make the hit piece, but it was completed after he got $$$ from the Dems, and then was leaked by them via useful idiot John McCain.
I haven't been paying much attention to this whole story since it seems like general boondoggle and that nothing substantial will come out of this, but doesn't the above quote make it harder for the people who want to accuse Trump of collusion? The " unwitting individuals" part makes it seem like Trump is just stupid (well we already knew this) instead of guilty of collusion.
I'm glad you got your digs in on Trump and all that, but do you really think Trump was involved directly with the trolls?
That is correct because that action releases it to the public domain. I can't even believe you didn't already realize this. That is not the issue here. The rightsholder didn't post to Twitter, an unauthorized third party did.
I misunderstood the issue. Mea culpa. Thanks for the clarification.
Where I grew up, there are several areas where the CCC planted trees. You can tell they were planted and not naturally occurring, because they are all lined up in perfect rows and columns. Unfortunately, they planted white pine trees by the millions. Hopefully China will learn from this example and plant less volatile specimens.
Anything that causes there to be fewer photos of Tom Brady going around the internet is a good thing. My only wish is that the ruling involved the Kardashians instead.
If someone posts something publicly on twitter, that becomes a statement of public record.
By that logic then, if the New York Times posts one of their staff photographer's photos on Twitter, that's a part of the public record, and anyone else, including other newspapers can use it as well, since that becomes a statement of public record.

Same old Slashdot: ad hominem attacks still get modded up.

You're going to get modded down into oblivion, but here's a little evidence to support your argument.

... in oversaturated market - plenty of slaves for stupid capitalist economy
Don't worry, AI will take care of that problem!

Make SlashDot Great Again! Before it's too late...
Again implies that it was great previously...
I know 4 local places that are looking for a machinists. They can not seem to find one. Send them to Dallas please.
That was back in the Bush era. I'm sure those guys are all working somewhere now.

that A.I. own't create new jobs, probably some we've never even considered yet. That's the way most disruptive technologies work.
Too dangerous, and an activity such as flying might remind the humans that they were once free.
When was that?
Check out this cached story from Time:
Alleged Gunman Nikolas Cruz Was in White Supremacist Group
Now compare with the current version:
Alleged Gunman Nikolas Cruz Was in White Supremacist Group

Me too. Not sure why all the nerd rage...
Maybe they're not checking for uBlock, or they are only doing it with random readers.
That's nothing... Back home in Britain the Welsh have been combining human and sheep DNA for centuries.
Sheepboy says "Thaaaat's my daaaaad!"

Then Christopher Steele will be indicted too for interfering with the election? He is foreign national that spread Russian Propaganda.
Yeah, but that's different, because it was for Hillary's benefit, so it's alright.
