    It works for me, so 10mg must be enough. I have awful allergies, and it seems to work for me most of the time.

    I get the Wal-Mart brand of Claritin or Zyrtec. No Prescription needed even for 6+ month supplies.

    I also get the generic equivalent, but they only sell them in 2 week packs, and will only sell one at a time. The other reason I get the prescription is because thanks to Obamacare, I now have to have a prescription to use my HSA $. Before Obamacare, I could use my HSA on OTC medicine. So yet another hoop to jump through, and people ask me why I'm against big government. None of these things is overly terrible taken on it's own, but cumulatively...

    I used to take Sudafed for my allergies, but then they had to change because METH. Now I take Claritin D, and if I want more than a 2 week supply, I have to get a prescription. This requires me to go see my doctor every so often, because she isn't keen to give prescriptions without checkups. All of this mess because somebody might use a drug as an ingredient for a drug that used to be legal.

    My boss asked me "What is IoT?", so I explained it to her. I told her it was a collection of "smart" appliances that are connected to the internet, so that you could dim the light bulbs in your living room from your smart phone, or you could adjust the thermostat in your house so it is nice & warm when you get home, or you could preheat the oven to 450 on your way home from the store. On the flip side, hackers could turn off your lights prior to a home invasion, turn your thermostat off during a cold spell so your pipes freeze, or preheat your oven to 600 degrees while you're on vacation.

    There is no room for ethics on capitalism. The market sets the rate, based on what people are to pay. Since people will die if they don't take the drug, they will pay every penny they have (or that their insurance is willing to give).

    What are you, some kind of communist? Expecting companies to act in the interests of the general good, guided by morality...

    I've heard rumors of companies doing that, but I'm sure they are only rumors. Yes, capitalism is rotten to the core, and only the use of force in order to get people to comply with your new world order will do!

    How so? The US will still be run by the ultra-rich, privileged upper-class aided by their well-fed lackeys, the lobbying companies. Oh, you mean the puppets office will be different? Doesn't really count.

    To hazard a guess, I think he means most of us are getting fed up with the so-called social "justice" warriors who are continuously up in arms and having hissy fits over any perceived (though probably not real) slight. Yesterday provided a perfect example. Two guys on twitter made up a #boycottstarwarsvii hashtag, claiming the movie was racist against white people. Of course, SJWs went apoplectic with self-righteous indignation, and it even made CNN & The Daily Show, but it turns out it was all just a troll from the get-go. SJWs seem to go full retard every day.

    I see where you're coming from, but wouldn't it simply be better to violate copyright instead of killing them, so they can continue writing?

    if you buy an e-reader, you're only going to be buying books for it. If you buy a tablet, they can sell you videos and software, too.

    Which is exactly why I got a Kindle instead of a Kindle Fire. I knew I'd never use it to read if I got the Fire.

    Why would I want my web browser to give me desktop notifications? Why the hell would I want a website to give me push notifications even if my browser is closed?

    It may be an organizational thing, but I seem to recall that we had to intentionally turn it on. Since my institution decided to swallow the Google pill instead of the Microsoft one, Desktop notifications are useful if I'm doing something other than browsing the web to get my meeting updates from calendars, chat requests, etc. Since I do some web development, I'm usually switching between browsers as well to test different things out, so I might not always be using Chrome or even have it running.

    Mostly because lawyers are typically very dumb, and lawyers are who file the patents.

    Most lawyers I've met are pretty bright. The one trait the majority of them seemed to have in common was arrogance. Besides, don't blame the lawyers for filing bad patents, blame the patent office for not rejecting them.

    The reason people got upset about the ad is because it's clearly trying to use her attractiveness to get attention.

    I suppose you could get that if you were looking at her ad in isolation, but it appears to be a series of ads that includes two guys of whom nobody probably questioned the validity of their acclaimed professions. It's not her fault that she's easy to look at.

    In the case of my brother, his wife was home alone in Freemont CA. Someone tried to break into their house and she called the police/911. The person tried for over 45 minutes to get into their house (without success) and the whole time, his wife was on the phone with 911. All 911 would say is hide in a closet. After an hour, the police showed up -- after the person had left. My brother threatened to go to the media and amazingly, the police had enough time to do drive bys past their house each and every hour for a week.

    She would have gotten a much quicker response if she had called 911 & told them she had just shot an intruder...

    Um, Puritanism is the State Religion in the USA. They offer platitudes about separation of Church and State, but all the evidence points in the other direction.

    If drugs were illegal in the U.S. merely for puritanical reasons, why would they also be illegal in places like China, North Korea or Vietnam? The religion they all have in common is statism.

    The reason for outlawing them is simple: You belong to the state, and if you're taking illegal drugs, you're not being a productive member of society. If you're selling illegal drugs, you're not contributing to the welfare of the state in the form of taxes. It all goes back to statism. Of course, most statists don't like to admit this.

    Saying this as a pro-legalization Christian who also doesn't like puritanism/legalism/statism...

    While I agree with the above statement (and some of your others), they didn't buy the devices. It was a developer preview provided to them under NDA. I think iFixit is clearly in the wrong here.

    You're expecting them to RTFA? I'd say "You must be new here", but your UID is lower than mine. In this particular case, I agree with you completely. iFixIt broke an agreement. I'd agree with the other posters completely if iFixIt had bought the unit. Seems to me like a fairly black & white case. And yes, I know the AppleTV's case is only black.

    Not me. This place is so full of trolls and shills it's really not much fun any more. Discussions like this are OK, but if it has anything to do with Linux it'll be filled with all kinds of caustic anti-Linux comments from MS "evangelists".

    That's what moderation is about. F'rinstance, I was making a joke about Slashdot being antisocial media, and someone (possibly an introvert) got offended. Besides, I think it's worse for us Mac users. You get all of the MS shills and the anti-Apple haters. MS has it's detractors as well. Just roll with the punches.

    I can see how "collaborative learning" and "project-based learning" might be problematic for introverts, but flipped classrooms might actually be better for them. Although there are several ways that they can be delivered, the most typical model is where students watch instructional material online by themselves, then do their homework in class. It seems to me that this would be an ideal situation for an introvert. No distraction during instruction or anxiety of being called on or asked to the front of the class, etc.

    It goes without saying that stuff like this should be copyrighted because it's essentially "fanart" that is being sold. You just can't do that. Though this makes me wonder about Time Machine-modified Delorean's and Ecto-1's

    I'm not so sure about that. I think Marvel & DC are smart enough to realize that killing Cosplay would really harm their industries. Of course, the problem you have with Marvel is their parent company, who is known for it's ridiculous commitment to protecting it's "property".

    The headline reads "Selfies Kill" but the summary clearly states that the story is about people who died while taking selfies. Just Another Old Guy indeed! ;-P
