The big deal is that your credit rating is determined by 3 private entities that have no practical oversight. Once you are subject to a fraudulent claim, you are screwed. There is no recourse and no way to clear your record.

>This whole controversy was much ado about nothing. The only thing that was different was that the user had access to the data that "the man" had all along.
I'm fairly certain all the people up in arms about this are not iphone users.
I'm less concerned about them breaking down his door, than I am that they felt the need to use a SWAT team to arrest someone accused of accessing child porn...
What possibly justification is there for this? Was there reason to suspect he might pull a gun and start shooting at the arresting officers?
An institution of higher education may not discriminate against or penalize in any manner, especially with regard to employment or academic support, a faculty member or student based on the faculty member's or student's conduct of research relating to the theory of intelligent design or other alternate theories of the origination and development of organisms.
So basically, when a student writes a paper about evolution claiming it is false, then cites creationism, the teacher is not allowed to "discriminate" and tell the student they're wrong?
One thing to keep in mind is that Facebook is also the most visited website on the internet.
That has real value. Just because facebook isn't yet leveraging their product to make as much money as possible, doesn't mean it wont be in the future.
Investing is not supposed to be about "now", but instead "the future"...
I got the android phone from work and at first thought i liked it more than my 3G, but after a few weeks of using it as my primary phone, I found myself going back to the iphone and using it more often.. eventually I stopped using the android for anything but work calls/email.
Now that I have an iphone 4.. i can say there's no chance of me going back to android any time soon, this phone is incredible.
If I were a mobile app developer I'd be asking myself right now if it's a smart idea to try to plan a viable business plan around iOS right now. [...] Apple and Blackberry will remain as niche players but it's going to be an Android future.
I had an adroid as well as an iphone. I never bought any apps for the android. I've purchased more than 20 apps for the iphone.
I'm a typical consumer in this sense, since the iphone appstore sells considerably more than google's app store...
Android certainly sells more phones than Apple, but they don't sell more apps.
>in Canada, it looks like any random citizen's electricity usage can be monitored by the government.
In Canada electricity is provided BY the government through 'Crown Corporations'.
My iphone is larger than my previous cellphone (razr).
It's only taken until version 10 for them to add such advanced features such as deleting cookies...
Their CTR must be awful.

>Sorry to be obtuse
5 weeks in the hole Dufresne.
>So Wall St. intends on pumping 25 billion into a company that doesn't actually even manufacturer anything.
I'm not in any way suggesting that Groupon is worth $25B, but Google doesn't manufacture anything and it's worth a lot of money.
The bank issuing the card is the only one liable for the money, VISA/Mastercard don't pay a dime if the money is charged in a fraudulent way.
>Sure they can state the student is wrong - we still believe in free speech (we do, don't we?).
Yeah, and we should be able to disqualify someone from a job if their beliefs are in direct opposition to the role they seek to fulfill.
If you're to be a biology teacher and you think evolution isn't true, then you have no business being a biology teacher.
Texans elected these people, and apparently aren't going to stop them from passing this law...
So basically, when a student writes a paper about evolution claiming it is false, then cites creationism, the teacher is not allowed to "discriminate" and tell the student they're wrong?
Texas has gone full retard.
or maybe it's exactly as the article says and they don't feel like being in the middle of a format war...?
Was he really the top student, or did he fix his own grades too?
Lads?
That dun sound very murikan of you... where'd you say yer from gain?
This is the line of thinking behind lobbyists entering high positions of government......
just saying.
>Out of curiousity, what do you plan to do once 3.5 stops getting security updates?
They'll just become the bane of the internet, a title currently held by anyone using IE6.
Why not just work on making JS more efficient, and if needed, give it more capability?
Applets were explored in the past and died because they were not what people wanted..
Trademarks are not universal, they apply to their field. Cellphones and connectivity interfaces are not necessarily overlapping...

Soliciting a criminal act is illegal, even if you get no direct responses.
What if someone saw that post, then without answering him took him up on the offer and killed her, only to claim the reward afterwards..?

Right, because at no point in their life were they raised to believe that they should cover themselves.
You really think they came to this conclusion on their own? You're deluding yourself.
