I'm not saying that the desire to be on TV is smart or stupid, but if you want to be on TV and the only way to be on TV is to give stupid answers, giving smart answers is absurdly retarded.

Not really. When Jay Leno comes up to you on the street and asks you trivia questions, if you're smart you know that the only way you're going to be on TV is if you give stupid answers, so that's exactly what people do. It's the people that waste their time answering all the questions correctly, oblivious to the fact that they aren't going to be on TV, that are the truly stupid.

This is what really annoys me. The record labels say that most of your money goes towards the rights to listen to a CD, but when you already own the rights to listen to a CD and simply need to replace the physical disc most of them force you to purchase the rights again in order to get the physical disc. I had a few CD's damaged a couple years back and asked the record labels how to get a cheap replacement disc since I already paid them for the rights to the music, and all of them except for one told me I would have to buy the CD from the store again (I wound up buying new jewel cases and moving the liners to them and bringing them to a couple of stores saying I just got them as a birthday present and they were broken and exchanged them for new ones, I would have been happy to pay a dollar or two to the label for a new CD but instead got them for free). Luckily I was able to do this since I still had the physical CD, but if I had ever lost it or had it stolen I'd have been out of luck. The record companies say you're purchasing the rights to listen to an album, but for the most part their actions are contrary to this (unlike software manufacturers, in the old days you could easily get a replacement for a defective floppy).

Gramm, Leach and Bliley are three Republican Congressmen who have all received huge bribes (sometimes called campaign contributions) from the banking industry

Why is it that everyone calls a campaign contribution a bribe? So three people believe that banks, insurance companies, and stock brokerages should be allowed to combine. Is this a huge shock? Is it simply unfathomable that intelligent people would fell this way? No, intelligent people often have differing opinions. So, who is the banking industry going to give money to? The politicians whose views will make the bank more money or the politicians whose views will make the bank less money? It's not a bribe if it doesn't affect how the person acts, there's no reason to believe these are bribes rather than money spent to get someone already on their side into office.
